what the hell?

ok, so i've had my CLS for 2 weeks now...and i was outside in my driveway after driving it around for a little bit (through the neighborhood) and i hear this low humming sound coming from my car.....it happens like every 8-10 min or so....its like the sound you hear when you put the car in drive and it hums... i think someone told me that was the ABS test after every startup....but yea sounds like that, so i have this humming sound coming from my car... and it also kinda sounds like when you pull the wiper fluid stick, and it sprays, making that humming sound.....what the hell is this shit? HELP it sounds so stupid when ppl are around the car and are like "wtf is your car doing??

If it is right when you put your car into R or D and the car makes a little humm for about a sec, it is the ABS pump engaging. Usually it does it twice. No problems at all, just normal.

Funny!! I just posted the same thread on this mysterious noise thread on pg 2 on the 2gn CL thread page. What it actually is, is the emission control sytem in the gas tank is what I was told

Yeah, the cooling fan could be kicking on an off... pop the hood and see if the fan is running when the humming is happening...

No, its avalve that allows air to escape or enter the gas tank as it expands or contracts due to normal heating and cooling.

i've never seen or heard of that in any car....none of my accords make that noise,....the 1990 didnt, the 1996 didnt, the 2000 doesnt, and neither does the 2002....but somehow this 2001 CLS makes the noise...oh well cool i guess...

such a gay sound.....sounds like the car is constipated and needs to let one rip.

Drive to your local dealer, let them listen to it and see if they can diagnose the cause since you can't get a definative answer here.
