Coming to a city near you
it was his stupid fault for hardwiring the NOS heater. I've read about this before and I don't think the company settled with him because he didn't follow the installation directions.

I feel compelled to post about this. This story comes up every once in a while (I saw it about a year ago over at LS1.COM) and while it is true and scared me at first, I've been told by people who were close to this story that some facts were left out.
One, the guy who installed this system took off the safety blow off valve that most if not all nitrous systems come with, where if the bottle pressure reaches a certain pressure, it blows out some nitrous to relieve the pressure in the bottle. Apparently, dumb ass took it off and/or disabled it to achieve higher pressure in the bottle, which gives you a tiny bit more power but hardly worth the risk.
Second, and someone touched on this above, dumb ass left on the bottle warmer. Hmmm... heating up a bottle filled with compressed nitrous with a disabled blow off safety... what do you get? The pictures above. Nitrous is perfectly safe if you don't f*ck around with the safety systems designed to protect you in the name of a few ponies.
In fact, I'm installing a 100 shot NOS system in a month or two...
-Jim
P.S. Thanks to TakeFlight for pointing me here...

That is interesting....he disabled a safety blowoff valve just for more power? Why not get a bigger shot? Sigh, at least no one was hurt I guess would be the thing to say here?

You'll be surprised at what lengths people go to maximize what they have. I've heard of people actually taking the floor mats out of their car to reduce weight to get a better time down the 1/4 mile... if they could get a tornado to hurl them down the track, they probably would.
But you're right, at least the dumb ass wasn't hurt Be safe out there!

Impressive!
Oxygen + Gasoline = Potential Bomb. Enjoy, but be safe.
After all, liquid missiles/rockets use oxidizers (Oxygen and others) and propellants (kerosene, alcohol, etc). Mix them together, add spark, and you have one heck of a bomb (Hmmm... the Space Shuttle Challenger come to mind.)

One moron + one removed/disabled blowoff valve + left on bottle warmer = explosion.
Unless you're as stupid as that guy, you shouldn't have such a problem. You put yourself in much more danger every day just by driving or flying or walking across a street.
The title of the thread should be "This is what happens when a moron uses nitrous."

he left the warmer on and this made the bottle to hot and the pressure to high so it blew through the relief but he had no relieve so the bottle blew. Scary shit, dumb asses fault. If for ever TC or SC system you see and the guy blows his motor, you don't say hey i'm not gonna do that, the guy did it wrong.
