Go to your local Pep-Boys and look for some polish by the company "Auto Magic". They have to polishes that fit what you want. The first is BC-2 Basecoat/Clearcoat Finish (#78). This looks awsome on dark colors and works great on light colors also. The other is White Magic Pre-Softened Cleaner/Wax (#75). This works good also, but it has more cut than the #78.

If your paint is not in too bad of shape, I would use the #78. Both are priced very well and are not expensive at all. They last very well to weather also. They also have a great line of waxes and polishes that can follow up the two I told you about or they are great one step waxes.

These are some of the products that I use in my detail car biz.

If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I'll put in my $0.02 and recommend 3M Imperial Glaze. Probably best used with a Porter-Cable random orbit DA polisher (3M makes both a hand & machine version of this product). IMHO, that particular machine gives much better results than hand application for non-professionals (Zaino being the only exception - it's a waste to use a machine with it).

Hand glaze hides imperfections by filling them in. I would use 3m perfect it swirl mark remover. It is a mild abrasive and should cut through the oxidation. Use by hand or with an orbital. Then wash with dawn and finish up with your favorite wax / polish.
