This past saturday night me and my buddies were going out to world gym (a huge ass parking lot where everybody shows off their cars and organize races) we were riding in our little pack, my 3.0 cl and 4 black civic si's all with a shitload of mods. All of a sudden this older model dirty ass white ford lightning comes jetting through a yield sign acting like hes a hard dick or something. and all my buddies have been trying to get a race for me that night. i was so gung ho i caught up to him revving my shit and pulled up to him at a stop light when i know all my friends are like YEAH BUST HIS ASS i could hear them screaming out their windows. i dropped down to 1st and put on the brake and had the rpms at about almost 3. the light turned green and we took off. he kind of beat me off the start cause i was staring him down and i caught him and hit 2nd and then started pulling him then. next i hit third and plain blew his ass away he was goneand the freaking black plague had already all screamed by his ass. i was so excited i finally busted someones ass. when i run against my friends they dont ever beat me bad at all its only like 2 or maybe even 3 cars. on a 70 punch all the way to 135 i was right there alongside them. were going to the track here in a couple of weekends to see what i can run. they all run very low 15's one of them ran a 15 flat. now im all into this racing shit and I LOVE IT

 

let tell you a couple things...lighnings run mid 13's...so he was laughing at you and not even racing....and there is a very well respected long time member of this board called "BNUT" to just add a Z does him no justice...goto profile and change your user name...

 

 

In all fairness he did say he raced a late model Lightning. I don't know what those mid 90's Lightnings run in the 1/4...but 15's sounds about right.

lightnings have no chance with a cls. its a lightning compared to other pick-ups. they run hi15's low 16's. i know i used to be a ford freak.

 

we still don't know what year lightning he ran. i dont know the times for the mid 90's, but i recently saw a newer one run 12.8.....i asked the guy what he did to it and he said its stock!...yeah anyway!...nice truck, but i still don't see why if someone is a ford fan, they would buy that over a cobra for around the same $$

Acura CL-S 6 Speed:
Horsepower: 260hp @ 6100 rpm
Torque: 232ft-lbs. @ 3500 rpm
Weight: 3446 lbs

So the lightning weighs ~1200 lbs more than the CL, has 120 more horsepower at earlier RPM, has 220 more lb/ft of torque at earlier RPM... I wouldn't even try it.

 

ya guys, remember the old ford lightening, the block style, made in 94-6 i think. it was a 351, 4 spd auto, 250 HP, short wheelbase, styleside 2wd, avail in red white and black. designed to compete with the SS 454 from chevy which was also only making about that much HP, more torque of course. this was the old 454 with TB efi though, not the newer 'vortec' so it was more or less neck and neck.

about 15 flat would be a great run for either truck. generally low 15 sec trucks from the factory. a shadow of what the lightening is now, with a 5.4 which makes 260 in stock trim, tricked out with a nice blower and a mid 13sec truck for real. also only 2wd models, and short box, reg cab.

you can however, now also get the blown 5.4 in the harley davidson with a crew cab. pretty pricey though.

so beating up an old lightening is totally understandable and expected.
