What exactly is a CL-P

OK, dumb question but what exactly is a CL-P that some people own. I thought it was either CL or CL Type-S.

Thanks guys.

CL 3.2 = CL-P

The owners manual refers to it as the Premium model, hence the P

I saw my first CL-P up close today - parked next to me at the mall. Different wheels - different than the TLs too and a gold mist kind of color. It surprises me that they offer different colors depending on model. If they can do that then why not offer all these colors in all models - it can't be hard to do!?

Hmmm, last time I checked the 3.2 CL didn't have a "Type P" on it. I guess they have to hang with the big CL-S boys some how.

Sounds like the same thing the Accord V6'ers do with the "L" letter, as if saying you have an EX isn't enough to distinguish it with ooooh, leather . Silly silly imo...

Hmm, well last time I checked Acura didn't make a CL-S. They do make a CL 3.2 Type S.

If you had been on this board for the last year you would understand where CL-P and CL-S came from.

Anyways, trust me and most of the other CL-P owners. There is no CL-S envy! The difference in price between a $28,000 CL-P and a $30,000 CL-S is very minor and had no impact on my decision.

This topic has been discussed at length before. But going 0-60 in .3 or .4 sec faster didn't make that much of a difference. Considering the "Bowling Ball wood trim" and leather with little holes in the CL-S it is a fair trade.

When I was shopping for the CL-P I referred to the "base model CL". The salesman almost shit on himself. I guess Acura doesn't sell BASE models. Hence the "premium" monniker.

Touche, good point. Although Honda of Japan did make a 93; I believe, NSX-R which was indeed the NSX Type R. So the connotation CL-S could in theory be used to express the Type S nature for shortness as they do with CTR or ITR, though then you could use CLTS, which sounds totally funny altogether.

Nevertheless, I see your point when I have no understanding of the past history of the debates on this CL-P, so I will leave it at just that .
