I dunno about a manual A4 but the CVT 1.8T does the 1/4 mile in 16.3 stock.

A4's are pretty damn slow stock, but a few mods will make them very quick. German mods are pricy though.

Yeah, low 15s. Headers/cat back exhaust/intake can get ya to about 195-200 to the wheels. Stock about 175 I think.

We'll have a track day soon so I can give you numbers from our club. I think high 14s are possible with bolt ons.

But who doesn't FI their IS nowadays.

My bud had one A/T with a SRT intake and some other crap on his IS, his best time was 15.6 in the 1/4. He got rid of it cause he didnt feel it was worth it to invest anymore money. He is currently debating over an SVT cobra or an S4. As for M/T I think lexus claims 14.9 in the 1/4, the best I've seen 15.3.

Yeah thats true for the most part...except the chip/software that adds about 40hp/similar tq runs only about $500 and brings the 1/4 down to 14.8....or at least that's my friend's experience.

But yeah he said a good intake runs about $300, exhaust is about $1100. But the chip is def. money well spent

Well its true the toyota I6 is weak sauce without turbos on it. Most people put i/h/e on their is300s and dyno at about 190hp/190ftlb. (~170hp/170ftlbs stock)

You gotta go FI if you want to make power. If your going that way Honda V6 < Toyota I6

One thing I will say for the IS300, it is built like a fucking tank. Spent yesterday at the Lexus Performance Driving School at California Speedway. There were sixty students in attendance and at the timed autocross, each student got to do (6) practice laps and (1) timed lap. There were (3) cars available to use. This works out to 140 laps per car. They ran and stopped as well at the end of the day as they did at the beginning! I know my CL-S would not lasted the day with this kind of abuse. Also driving 130mph on the two mile oval was a real rush!!!

Were those cars race preped in any way? I'd find it hard to believe if the weren't. Stock tires, BPs, brakes etc., must've been upgraded.

Everything stock as far as I could see. At the end of the day the tires on the road course cars could have used some more grip

If the one I raced was a MT car and stock, then they are as quick as my stock 01 CLS.

no it doesn't the engines are not the exact same if you want the full conversion you need to put out $$.

The is300 engine is actually 2JZ-GE as compare to the supra which is 2JZ-GTE.

my friend has a 98 1.8t quattro m/t. Stock it is in the 15 to 15.5 second range. Yes overall german mods are expensive, but you can get a chip for 300-400 and a k04 turbo upgrade kit for like a grand. You can get that car fast with not that much money. Its a good car as long as you plan on modding it. Same with the is almost. Its a little slow stock, but can be a monster once you add on a turbo.

what a 330 going in reverse? No man.....is300 will get the shit kicked out of it. 330 is a low 14 second car and the is300 would be luckly to break 15.0.....

330 is quicker than the IS 300, period.
AS for the Honda V-6 vs the Toyota I-6, yeah, stock the Honda has more power but it can't begin to touch the 2JZ. Period. THat engine is legendary. We are talking 600hp to the wheels with stock internals. That engine is pretty much invincible.
Plus I-6 >V-6.

I think the IS300 is around 0.7 - 0.8 behind the 330Ci with same tranny in the 1/4. That's quite a bit faster. The IS300 isn't a fast car, and "slapping a turbo on it" isn't an easy or cheap task.

Like the IS, but too damn small. I'm not too fond of the gauge clustering....too confusing

No longer that is the case. A spare 5-7k can yield incredible results with a Turbo or a say Toyomoto S/C. I see already a huge trend starting of people buying used 2001 ISs for high tens to low 20s and dropping the money saved over a new one into forced induction.

Hell, that is an option I am looking at.

just wanted to mention that the 330 is a mid-high 14 sec car, not a low 14 sec...I already raced a 330ci and beat his fucking ass; However, he did have an extra passenger and I dont think he could drive too well. Still, I think I could take one again. The IS300 is plenty slower than the 330ci as well as the CL-S.
