usually 2.2 w/ a few 2.1

you are totally correct, the cl-s needs more low end tq. to get out of the hole. and yes, 100 mph is hard to do. i've run over 99.5 on many occasions but i've never hit the magic number.

and trapping over 100 is needed to run a 13.99

ive run ~

2.19 60', 14.17 @ 99.77

we probably need 101 mph to run a 13.9x

I would say the 3.5L conversion would be a worthwhile upgrade if you're looking for 1/4 times. The extra displacement should help low end torque. Type R put down what, like 245whp through his 3.5w/5AT with boltons right?

And f you 5at guys with your nice launches. If I ran a 2.19 60' in my stock 6 speed I'd be running 14.1's also.

i've never broken anything at the track. and i've gotten good deals on all the parts for my car. you would be shocked if you knew how little i have into this car. $ wise.
lucky you... =)

if i'm looking for 1/4 mile times i'll just open the bottle.

but i want more streetable power. so i plan to try adding a ported TB with p&p intake manifold and injector base, followed by cams.

maybe after that it will be time for the 3.5L

i put down 244 n/a whp with the unichip, same as the 3.5L dyno, but w/ 15ft lb less tq.

With a decent 60' (~2.1 for an auto), you'll probably need about 100mph to run close to 13.99. It hasnt been done yet because 100mph NA is very tough to do with a car that weighs 3500lbs and doesnt have a ton of low end torque.
I trapped 100 mph five or six times and 101 once on the same night. Haven't hit 13's yet probably due to a 2.2 average 60ft. on stock tires. I agree it would be possible with a 2.1 60ft. and 100 mph. I hope to hit the mark when the weather gets a little better with my better rubber.

With the 6spd its all about driving to hit 13's (13.9, that is). Beyond that, it needs work!

I still think 12's NA is very possible on a 6spd - good weather, good driver, slicks and maybe cams/ECU in addition to everything I had before should cut it.

Naturally Aspirated (i.e., NO turbo, supercharger, or Nitrous)

Rough explaination...

A turbo and S/C are two different beasts

yes, but as i recall it, with more mods you actually did worse. not that the pulley didnt help, but that you had extremely good conditions with the 14.2
the chip can possibly get you into the 13's if its programmed well. but then again, i think i/h/p/e can net you a best of 14.1-.2 and the chip only adds about 10-15, which is just barely enough to do it.

from my limited experience and from what i see on the boards, the best way for an auto na to reach 13's is i/h/p chip and slicks. slicks would pretty much guarantee 13's, without them its a challenge.

Slicks would almost guarantee drietrain disaster.

not to mention hundreds of angry racers ready to kick your ass because they have to wait for the employees to mop your trans fluid off the track after it goes kaboooooom at the line

your right, i was running slower with the chip.

my best time with i/h was 14.27@98 in 55 deg weather

with i/h/p tires i ran 14.23@99.49 in 72 deg

i also have comptech mufflers, but they dont add any power

2.0 is so hard with your mods and stock wheels though. The reason why matt and typer can get 2.0s is because they have much more HP and torque than you and I. I have left the line at 2000 rpms at full throttle with ZERO wheelspin and still only managed a 2.11 60'. 2.0 is gonna be quite tough considering our power/weight/FWD factor.
