What do you guys think of the new Toyota RAV4 ???
The wife’s 91 Integra is getting up there in age and miles (87,000) and I’m starting to think about an upgrade.
I’m a die-hard Honda/Acura fan and have owned only H/A since 1990, but I don’t want to spend the bucks for an MDX and I think the CRV is butt ugly.
I didn’t like the old RAV4, but I think the new one looks pretty cool and can be fully loaded up and have 4WD for about 22-24K.
I know with only a 148HP 4CYL engine most people here wouldn’t want to be seen dead in one, but I think its good enough for a second car.
Opinions ???

Seriously, in regards to the butt ugly comment are you referring to the new 2002 CR-V or the previous generation that has been around for a few years. If you are seriously looking at a new mini sport utility vehicle then you need to drive the two (Rav and CR-V) to truly make your decision, butt ugly or not there is a ton more room in the CR-V and it drives a lot nicer. I sell Hondas here in Milwaukee so I have driven both back to back....worlds apart.

Yes, I was referring to the NEW CRV.
I hate that black lower cladding on the lower front & back.
I think whenever they put that on cars, trucks or vans it looks like hell.
I’m sure it’s great for avoiding dings & stone chips, but still UGLY nonetheless.
But knowing how good Honda is with interior ergonomics, I will probably sway to them after the test drive.

Take a look at the Toyota Highlander. It has AWD, and a V6. It also drives/rides/handles like a car.
My brother has one, and its very nice. I was going to get one, but opted for the Sienna minivan for the 2nd car (much more practical, especially with a tv,vcr, playstation, fridge, etc
Our cars are comfy, but it doesn't compare to a van's seats for long hauls!

And they START near 30K without options.
I don’t want to spend that much. It cuts too deep into the A/V & DVD budget.
As for a mini-van…..NO WAY….AIN’T HAPPENING !!!!

I was at the Honda dealer today, and i saw a new blue CR-V at the show room; I think its pretty nice..and front looks just like the Acura MDX imo, the interior is pretty nice and clean too, so maybe you should take a look at both cars and take some test drives ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
btw..if you could get a good deal for the WRX wagon..GO FOR IT!!!!!

With the van, when I visit family I put my son's power-wheels truck in the back, plenty of room and can still carry 5 people. My brother in his highlander has to drop his rear seats to fit his son's power-wheels, then there is only room for 2 in the car.
Same thing when people visit, we can take one car to dinner as the van easily holds 7. We put the kids in the 3rd row, throw in a video tape, give them the headphones, and we can talk or relax.
Also comes in handy while shopping "oooooo the new snow throwers are out, gotta get one".
But of course that van won't put rice-boy in his place, that is what the CLS is for

When my brother got his highlander, they were dealing on them. He paid under $30k for a loaded one (v6, awd, fogs, running boards, spoiler, etc). I have no idea what they are going for now.
I would take another look at the subaroos.

my friend recently bought a rav4 and i've driven it quite a lot. IMO i think its a great mini-SUV, but it really lacks in power and acceleration. it might be different w/ the 5spd tho. i havent been in or driven the new cr-v, but the new rav seems better built and more solid than the old cr-v.
