What to do (within reason) chips in paint?
I don't have alot of experience with what "can and can't" be done when you get chips in the paint.
I have silver 01' that I've had since April 2000. I have a 2 or 3 chips on the hood (not to mention those on the bumper - the hood bothers me most though) that have raced right through the clear coat (yeah, what clear coat?) to the dull silver paint below.
I tried using the Acura touch up paint, but it looks worse than the chip. Is the only way of handling this to repaint or what is the guideline for buffing out something like this?
I know it's been said, but the paint job on our cars is pathetic. In my case, I don't live in area with roads that are all that bad. Plus, there's no winter snow, salt, etc. to deal with.
Thanks for the assistance.

How did you apply the paint? Using the attached brush is not very good for applying paint to the parts you mention. Hood, bumper. Parts that are very visible.
If the touch-up paint is to thick on the nicks(s) in question use a thin applicator. I use a slew of toothpicks. It keeps the paint thin. That way slowly (patiently) adding another coat or more is possible.
There are some car sites that sell special little applicator sticks just for touchup stuff. One might be Griots Garage (spelling?) or similar.
Good Luck

I bought that stuff called "Langka" and it seems to work OK on my silver CL-S, but it definitely takes two applications (more if you have patience) for best results. Check it out on their website.
CLebrations, whereabouts in Sacratomato are you located?

I live in Arden Park and am a Manager at VSP. I've noticed a few other Sacramentan's on the board.
Thanks for the tip. Kevin

I may have asked you already, but if you might be interested in an occasional get-together with myself and another Sacramento area CL-S owner (Red Rider), please post here or send me an email at mlcarlson@citlink.net. We are meeting Saturday morning for coffee to plot a half or full-day road trip for the May 5th weekend.

I just got two long lines of scratch on my hood from a cheap car wash. I hope I can fix them with something, they are like hairlines.
