hey whats up man. I just picked up a spare upper intake manfold and TB for me CLS 6. I was planning on getting the PSR Power plenums and having the spair manifold and throttle body ported and polished. What do you suggest?

thanks again. i know its possible and not that hard. i am not a huge track guy, but making my car a little qiucker to play around with isnt out of the question. i am only asking for a half a second faster. hell, i got that outta removing my spare, resonator and mufflers, with wider tires and an intake. my car is basically stock, and i just wanna beat mustang gt's and 350z's. not a big deal.
plus, unless you are a perfect driver, then u will never get the times you want out of a stick in these cars, so i dont regret sport shifting instead....

Thats what I was told last year, but I haven't heard of anything like that since. It doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon. There is nothing on their website either: http://www.countylinedragwayinc.com

I would try adding tranny mods after some bolt ons like pulley, CAI, Headers, etc. if you want to get serious with the car. You won' t hang with some but you can definately get into the 13's which is not syaing much comparably. I can tell by the way my automatic shifts that i'm loosing time guesing when to shift in autostick. You will be suprised how much a trans can add to track times trust me i experienced it with another car with trans mods alone. I gained almost 1/2 a second. I understand trans seems a little expensive and unreasonable for 13 sec 1/4 mile goals, but they are worth every penny. Maybe an idea to help later with track times. I wish I could have a mid 13 second CL but it is not very practical considering you can go faster for less in a better car, or I should say a more suitable affordable track car. Question, Are you leaving the car in D5 when you race? If so try shifting manually you won't drop out of v-tech at all. I agree this site has some people who treat it like myspace and forget what the purpose is here, I'm sorry if you think I'm hating I'm not just being honest.

yeah people have such a bad attitude about the CL...i think it is one of the biggest achievments to get a heavy FWD luxury car to go fast. the engine has SO much potential and that fact alone is addicting. everyone always goes to say its the wrong car...yes there better out there, but lets help this guy get in the 13s...idk bout you, but im on here cuz im rooting for the CL and im a fan of this car, maybe people are just fans of ripping on people just like themselves...im confused.

forget N/A, just supercharge and enjoy the car!

My CL-S 6 speed has been 13.8 in the 1/4 mile with just a intake on it, with a set of Falken Azenis. I have not taken it with all teh current mods, but sure i can get mid 13 second pass, and all i have is bolt ons. Plenums, 4 inch intake, spacer, and headers.

i'm sure you guys have a lot more track time than the usual folk though. but that means that even with intake/headers the car should be in the 13.6-7 range..

i love the cl and i know the possibilities of it. its quick, but its just not the best car for dragging/tracking. if u had to pick a car all over again for this. what would you do?
It's not about having a track car, it's having a daily driver that can hold it's own at the track.

The guy around the corner from me has a Pinto that could smoke any Acura on this Forum, but who would want to drive it every day?

Acura CL type S, the best of both worlds in a relatively affordable package.

well, i appreciate all the replies and i know i can get my car in the 13.9's with bolt ons and my driving. i am not able to get another car anytime soon, so i wanna enjoy it as much as possible. plus i wouldnt buy a g35 or anything else in our class, just to be unsatisfied with its performance again, so a little bit of money in the car i already have is sensible in my opinion.
i would have to get a gas guzzler like a gto or an expensive car like a m3 to be satisfied in stock form.
I AM VERY CURIOUS 2 SEE SOME TRACK TIMES FROM ALL MEMBERS, SO MAYBE I WILL START A NEW THREAD ON THAT

I can't scan the timeslip, but here is everythin important off of there:

60' - 2.094
1/4 - 13.895
MPH - 98.65

You can tell from my timeslip that the car was stock, from the Trap Speed of only 98 mph.

Man, you must have launched really good. I was trapping 98 last time I went but was only getting 14.4's. I couldn't hook up.

You have 225 tires right? Doesn't that effect the run? Changes the gearing since they are smaller then stock diameter.

the low trap is probablly due in part to the 6mt , id say he had to shift to 4th before the end and that hurt the trap

I will tell you 1/8 time when i go to shop in the morning, and find the slip again. The mph is low because the engine is stock. The reason the time is good is because of the 60 foot. Its all about the 60 foot. A good rule of thumb is every .1 off your 60 foot, is about .2 off your time. Example.
2.2 60 foot = 14.0 1/4 mile time
2.1 60 foot = 13.8 1/4 mile time
2.0 60 foot = 13.6 1/4 mile time.
This is just an example. Hopefully makes sense lol

The most important part of drag racing. How good you launch the car. How fast it takes you to travel 60 feet from a dead stop. THis will completely make or break your 1/4 mile time.

I could only manage a 2.25 and hit 13.4... If I had some stickier rubber I'm certain I woulda been in the 12's.

225 is the width, not the diameter. the diameter is based on the wheel size and the aspect ratio.

For example if the tire is a 235/40R18
the width of the tread pattern/tire is 235mm or 9.25 inches
the height of the side wall is 235X.40=90mm or 3.54 inches
and the diameter would be the side wall height times two plus the wheel diameter. 3.54inches*2+18inches=25.08inches

he knows that and is assuming the guy is running a 225/45/17 set up which would be a smaller roll than the 215/50 stock

See my sig.

All I needed was Comptech Icebox, light 17's with DR's, and no spare/jack/passenger seat.

In high torque RWD cars, the auto will win every time. Easier to launch. When I went from my AT CL to the 6M GTO, I had to learn to drive all over again at the track.
