Depends on what car you have. If you have a First Gen CL, then 87 octane or higher is fine. If you have a 2nd Gen CL.. especially on the Type-S... you need 92 or higher.
Brand is really a matter of preference. Gas is all very similar, so just worry about the octane. You'll get 20 different answers from 20 people about brand since a lot has to do with location and convenience.....

from what ive heard... the major companies are all fine ie. exxon, texaco, citgo, sunoco etc..., its the second hand ones that you have to watch out for. from what ive heard the fuel truck has sort of a runoff area which catches excess gas when pumped so its not lost or spilled and the second hand stations/companies buy that gas at cheaper cost. so therefore that gas could have a combo of 87-94octane gas making it less pure.
again!!! this is what ive heard. maybe im right maybe not maybe someone else can shed some light
i personally use texaco, chevron, or exxon

i think i've only filled up ONCE not using Mobil, and i think it was Exxon, which is the same company anyway lol

I usually use Chevron premium...I did notice a slight difference in performance on my '98 GSR whenever I filled up with it. I did get the best mileage though while using Shell premium, but I usually stick to Chevron since it's more convenient for me. Didn't like Mobil, so stopped using them.
Then again, maybe I'm just crazy and the differences are just in my head...

The biggest difference with "off brand" gas is the lack of all the additives like detergents, etc. Most off brand gas comes from the same refineries as the majors, but doesn't get all the treatments, hence the lower price.

I'm used 76 premium since I got my car back in March and just switched to Chevron premium to try it out and I noticed my exhaust is louder now...don't know if it's the gas or what...runs great with both!
