What exactly does having these components do the the CL-S as far as performance and or looks? i see alot of people on here have these parts on their cars and im just curious as to why? Id like to do some modding to my CL-S (once i get it this week!) and i want to know what the best thing to do is..i dont have the 1000 dollars plus for the headers/installation but i would spend a few hundred on something just to get me started, i just need to know what to start with!

 

The advantage to Comptech is there products aren't supposed to void your warrenty with Acura because Comptech works with Honda to develope products.

Springs are a matter of choice. The drop from Comptech is pretty conservative and allows the car the maintain the look the car has from the factory. The debate on this board between different springs is basically cosmetics. I have never read a disscussion that debated the performance. The debate on sways centers on the price. Comptech really charges a premium price on all of its products. Eibach is supposed to have sways that are stiffer than comptech but they haven't been released yet so Comptech would be your best bet.

If you want to get started on mods i would really go with sways and neuspeed upper strut bar. If you can afford it then get springs. However, i can tell you that if you do any type of spirited driving than you next complaint will be the tires. I only have 17 k on my and they need to be replaced because i can't go down 1/4 on the throttle without spinning the tires.

The Magnusson-Moss Act protects the consumer from having our warranty work voided by stating: (paraphrase) A manufacturer can not revoke warranty unless they can prove that the failure was directly caused by Non-OEM modification. Additionally, specifically referencing air filters, Warranty's can not be voided by air/oil filters by the manufacturer unless they provide them at no cost.

I think we need to be a little more careful in what information we give our new members. When it comes to basic mods (like springs, sways, strut bars, intakes, exhaust, headers) there is nothing special about comptech not affecting your warranty. You can get any brand of aftermarket part, the other thing about it is that your acura dealer won't (obviously) warranty the aftermarket part. Mods like a supercharger (which could affect the warranty on your engine, since you are forcing more air in than it was designed for), if made by comptech, MIGHT get special treatment from acura, since comptech and acura/honda are in bed in the racing world.

Z: The way I read your post, it looked like you were singling out comptech parts as being special in that they won't void your warranty. Then I just continued on my usual rant

 

ADVANTAGES-Better looks, better handling, improved ride quality
Disadvantages-NONE

 

Disadvantage= stiffer/"harsher" ride, possible tire wear (if rubbing occurs, but u should be fine with the comptech springs), springs on stock shocks could get bouncy, possible shock failure? (but that is rare)

hmmmm yeah I guess to a newbie my post might give some sort of designation to comptech. My intent was to say that there honda/acura has some sorta wink-wink think with comptech but who the hell knows
