The actuator is only in the Type S. Its a second intake. Its located behind the engine. The problem with many of the CL-S's is that the actuator is not opening. When this doenst happen the extra 35 hp isnt there. Theres a video of it working somewhere on the forum but I cant locate it now.

Try doing a search for 'actuator video' subject-only.

Also, read the FAQ in my sig for more info and pics and all sorts of stuff.

is there a way to "modify" the actuator to make it open sooner?

Kewl! I'm still searching for the video, but your FAQ pix showing the correct operation of the actuator were really helpful. Actually, all of your FAQ's are most excellent -- thanks!

One problem though -- I'm still trying to figure out how to get my girlfriend to hang off the side of the car with her head stuffed in the engine compartment so she can verify the actuator's proper functioning while I'm driving down the road @4100 rpm!

Thanks for the props! Glad you find it useful. The actuator still opens if the car is in neutral, so there's no need to risk your neck. =)

Actually, it even works with the car in park. The toughest part was peering around my Neuspeed upper strut tie bar while wearing my freakin' bifocals. However, with my honey slowly increasing the revs up past 4,100 rpm, I was able to see the actuator click over into its open position. Thank God! That's one less problema to worry about.
