Went over 130 today

I was running with a Camaro in my rear view mirror. I hit a long stretch of interstate and "stretched her legs". It felt really strong and was still pulling past 130, but I backed out because I was coming up on traffic. The Camaro never passed me but I never really pulled away either. The whole time I was thinking "please let this be a Z28 because I would be pissed if I couldn't shake a V6 Camaro". Sure enough when I slowed down and he passed really slowly...Z28! Man that felt good to hang for a little while. I'm sure he was surprised also!

Can a V6 Camero go 130? If so, why wouldn't you believe it could stay right behind you?

Well, I did some checking.
2/99 Car & Driver...V6 Camaro 5-speed manual
0-60 : 7.7 seconds
1/4 mile : 16.1 @ 87 mph
Top Speed : 116 mph (limited)

That car is slow and I hoped I would be pulling away from that!

Those V6 camaros are crap.
I didn't know the Z28s could get to 130... I thought they quit pulling around there. I always figured the Z28s were 0-60 and nothing else. What happened after you slowed down? Did he pass you and flip you off/give a thumbs up/whatever?

I had my car to 140 this past weekend. I was on my way to vegas. I was between stateline and vegas at about 7:30am and I hit the 140 mark. The car was as stable as 80mph.

dude, a Z28 has a virtually identical LS1 motor as a Vette!

The only significant difference is the cam & intake & exhaust plumbing.

325hp & 350lb-ft.

5sec 0-60 / mid 13 quarters & 150-155mph top end.

A few minor tweaks to this motor produces big HP.

Problem is , the chassis is as old as the hills!

It will still haul ass though.

I have a TL-S, and over 100MPH I think it's kind of squirrelly. Acura's are designed for the U.S. and not engineered for high speed driving. I had a C36 AMG, and in comparison the TL feels totally unstable at high speeds.

I agree, my (no AMG!) SVT Contour was more stable in the triple digits than the CL-S is.
A little dissappointing.

I've taken my dad's Z28 to around 138 without a problem.

And my CL-S is perfectly smooth at 95-105mph... the fastest I've taken it.
