I've never understood the current popularity of VWs. I guess it's mainly cause they are the cheapest German car, well not that $80k one nobody bought. Look and feel like economy cars inside and out, not to mention reliability issues, but they sure are popular here where I live, (lots of college students).
good luck on new car, why not a 6 speed CLS?

Not sure if you've been in a late model VW lately but they are not even close to "economy". The fit and finish is great and they drive nicely, there is nothing "economy" about them IMHO. Sure, they have some reliability/electrical issues but I call VW's "temperamental". They are still great cars regardless.

Good luck, skillmatic. I hope you find something soon.

There's a NBP 6MT for sale in the B/M for $17,5

if all else fails go for a 6 speed accord if you can't find a nice 6-speed CL.

wellllll...a 6-speed would be really nice, but i really wouldn't mind another auto cl-s...one of the reasons why im taking the vw back is because its stick and it gets pretty annoying in the city...i admit my mistake, shoulda never sold my acura...and a v dub is not sexy like the cl-s foolish me

Yeah, clearly you haven't spent any sort of time in a new VW 123456 Speed--affordable yes, economy NOT. I just got rid of my '01 GTI turbo, and while there were some really awful quality issues (window regulators, mystery water leak), I LOVED that car, and still miss it. Heated leather seats, decent stereo, shitload of space. With chip/intake/exhaust it could TOAST my stock CL-S 6 easily.

Sorry, but had to defend my old car! RIP!

That being said, I love my CL-S and wouldn't go back!

Well I guess economy was the wrong word, I just don't get the appeal of them, esp the interiors. I had a 64 beetle and a 73 Squareback, they were great. I know the current watercooled VWs are totally different cars.
My CLs 6MT has been the perfect car for me.

Cool, I can understand that.

I honestly think the biggest appeal of the newer VWs are the blue instrument lights. I fell in love with that the first time I saw it. Other than that, it's a pretty plain interior!

VW owner's are probably some of the most loyal owners around! But like all cars some have more issues then others. My mates who drive Dub's alway tease me saying I should be followed around by a tow truck in case my tranny self-destructs!

Blasphemer !!

"The man that curseth His Acura, shall bear his sin: And he that blasphemeth the name of Acura, dying let him die: all the multitude shall stone him, whether he be a native or a stranger. He that blasphemeth the name of Acura, dying let him die"

But if I had to buy a FWD car today, the Accord EX V6 6mt would be on my list

Why do you say that? CL-S nicer outside and inside. And the price difference isnt that great. A 06 V6 accord with Nav is like 28k.
