Welded Metal Piece Broken

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a terrible rattle coming from the trunk. When I went to inspect it, I noticed this big metal piece dangling from the tension rods that make the trunk pop up after hitting the release button. After looking at it more, I noticed that this piece was originally welded to the underneath side of the rear deck, right below the third brake light. I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

Just thought I'd share incase someone else has noticed this.

I just can't wait for the dealer to tell me that my sub caused this to happen. There is no way in hell that my little 10" sub can cause two welded pieces of metal to break apart. It is obviously a crappy welding job. I'm looking forward to arguing with them over this one.

How cold did it get where you live? I agree... no 10" sub can break metal. Maybe it hit the trunk kid? You wouldn't happen to have a digicam, would you?

It didn't really get that cold here a couple of weeks ago. I would say that the temp was around 30 degrees. I'll see if I can get access to a digital camera this weekend so I can post pics.

I think it would have to get really, really cold for the metal to break. Unless it dropped to -40F I doubt the cold waas the problem. Something must have hit it.

I guarantee you nothing hit it. I never carry anything in my trunk. It was just a poor welding job. Anyways, I took it to the dealer yesterday, and they agreed with me that it was just some wierd occurence and that they are going to fix it.
