Weird Shifting......

Well, for about three or four weeks now I have been having some weird shifts, both when the car is cold and warm. But I can't seem to "make it happen", it just happens when it wants to. I wouldn't call it a "slip" but more of a hesitation/bucking. It seems to happen most often when i'm rolling in traffic, probably 10-20mph and then lightly press the gas pedal, but nothing happens but a hesitation. But if I give it more gas, it will catch and go. Does any of this make sense? I've read some of the symptoms of the tranny issue, and I'm not sure if this applies or not. I haven't really noticed my rpms going real high during these slipages.

Same thing happened to me just before my transmission went out. I would recommend getting the car to a dealer ASAP

What milage were you at when your tranny went? I think I'm at about 19,500 now on a 2002. I brought it in once before for this same problem, but not near as bad as it has been recently and they told me everything was fine. Is there even anything they can do at this point, or am I just waiting for it blow up before they will do anything?

Don't scare the guy.

It might be nothing. Does it only happend like you described? Or does it also happen when you make a hard downshift? Like to pass. If not then it's not slipping. It might just be you are in a higher gear when going 10-20(maybe 2nd or 3rd) & just need to give it a little more gas. You can test it. When your in traffic like that, put the car in D2, or even D3 & see if it happens.

It also might be AC related. On these cars it seems the AC is very powerfull. I have noticed a sudden "bump" feels like a downshift at slower speeds. It seems to do it only with the AC on. Only under 2KRPM, & only around 45-50. It seems to be in sync with the AC compressor turning off/on.

I have an 03' CL with only 4500 miles on it and it is doing the exact same thing as NOLECLS described. My car does it with and without the AC on. I just figured that it's the way the car is until I came across this post. It only seems to happen under 30MPH I guess. Let me know if you find out what this is or if it's a common thing.

It only seems to happen to me under 30 mph as well. Like I said before, I brought it in once, and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong. But it seems to be doing it worse and more often now. I guess I started noticing it around 8,000 miles. I think I'll try and schedule an appointment for next week, I need an oil change anyway. I'll keep you posted.

i kind of get the samething...under 20-30 when the rpms are low (coasting, under 2k) it would seem that it buckles, or almost like something is pulling my car back and its harder for it to go. Now during any other driving my car runs fine. only when I'm coasting into the stop sign so i take my foot off the gas and rpms go very low do i feel this. I think its just that the engine in whinding down or just that since there is no gas and the rpms are low that it does this????

Until i read this post...now I'm spooked.

Hope I made some sense up there so peeps could help me out..hehe

Jesus a whole bunch of 2003's are having this weird shifting thing too. If it is a sign of a bad tranny, (and i hope it isn't) i can't believe Acura still can't get it right going into the third "year" of production.
