It's definitely a ticking and rattling sound.
It didn't show up when I met JZ at the dealership today but I could hear it in my garage again. Weird how it comes and goes.

I'ma get it checked out this week.

Btw, JZ, got that air filter installed (and shortened my intake)! Thanks man.

Weird rattling sound when car's in gear...

I hear this shit when I pull into my garage when I get home. Something's rattling around. Almost sounds like maybe a loose part in the tranny or the flywheel (if our car has such a thing).

The sound is intermittent and once I put it in park it's very rare, but when it's in gear it's quite noticeable.

Any ideas?

I'm prolly gonna get it checked out this coming week at the dealer.

NOPE. Cuz I've heard this shit practically since I got the car.
Although I'm off monday and I plan to take that shit out and cut it a lot shorter.
But it's not that anyway.

I better not need a new tranny or something.

Although it would certainly be ironic that me of all people has a screwed up tranny. I baby this car so much. I didn't even bother with sportshift seven of the eight-or-so weeks I've owned it.
I've only aggressively throttled it a handful of times, and even only VTEC'ed it maybe thirty times.

What the hell is giving a loose rattling rackety sound in the engine when it's running?!

I even hear it at idle. I hear it more after coming in from being out driving and about to shutdown than I do if I'm starting up fresh.
But it's still there either way.
Also louder when the engine's in a gear as opposed to park or neutral when it's much less frequent in occurance but still there.

And whatever it is, it's gotten more and more noticable as the car wears in.

It's more of a rattle that comes and goes.
It reminds me of like a really light clutch or flywheel that's loose. I can't describe it.

I'm supposed to meet with JZ tomorrow, so I'll let him hear it and maybe he can describe it better.

Could be the valves on the VTEC knocking (or is it pinging they do??), it's like a tic, tic, tic, tic noise??

not sure about the CL, but it might be the heat-sheild rattling

The sound you hear is normal. You removed the resonator box, so it is normal. All CLs with CAI setup will will have this sound. Actually, it is the sound comming from the throtle body when the engine is cold. the resonator box is to muflle this sound. When the engine is warn the noise will disappear.
