Weird issue

Now before y'all get all crazy, realize I don't know much about mechanics, but I'm trying to learn.

If I floor it, then let off the gas completely, it doesn't decelerate smoothly. The RPM drops in like steps, and the car slightly jerks with each drop. My old 95 corolla never did that. I don't know if that's an Acura thing, a CL thing, or hopefully not a sign of a failing transmission. I don't notice any of the other tell-tale signs of a failing transmission, but I clueless as to why this happens

Yeah, it shouldn't be "jerking" hard but it WILL downshift. Sounds like that's all that it's doing.

if you are at redline and let off the gas completely the automatic will shuift harder than if you were just cruising. It's probably just the transmission shifting up the gears. That's why when I go WOT from a stop I don't just l;et off the gas completely when I'm done, I just give it a little throttle to keep the shifts smooth.

i think i know what you're talking about. you mash it and then let off the pedal immediately. that happens to my car too. i'm pretty sure its normal.
