Weird clicking noise

I hear this weird fast clicking noise when the car is idling and I have the hood lifted up. I can't hear it from the car, but I decided to pop the hood to look @ the engine the other day, and heard this really annoying steady clicking sound. Is this natural? Has anyone else had this problem? I have an '01 CL-s

I've heard this noise. It's coming from some type of sensor that near the firewall on the driver side. Not sure what it is but I've only noticed it when it's extremely cold idle not sure if it went away after car warmed up but or if was just doing this because I also had the heat on blast and the car was cold not sure. But i' have a date with the dealer to change my oil I'll make sure to check with them to see what they say.

Is the noise a ticking noise? If so, I had asked an Acura Master Technician about it b/c I originally thought I needed a valve job. However, he said it is the injectors pulsating.

So from what I'm hearing, general consensus, is nothing to freak out about, right?

you are correct, there is nothing to freak about... i had it too, and when i went to Park Ave and two other Acura dealers about it, they said it was normal/or nothing to worry about.

Thanks God!!! I was hearing the same thing and it was freaking me out. At first I thought it was my valves tapping. But when I idle up it goes away. I guess its normal then.

I had this problem on another car....

well it was a ticking sound, and it didn't go away when the car warmed up or anything like that. I'm not sure if this is the same thing because I can't hear it. But it was a constant clicking.

Turns out that one of my spark plug wires was resting against the engine, and it eventually burned through the wires, exposing the metal part. The ticking was the spark travelling through the wire and jumping onto the metal on the engine. simple replacement of the spark plug wire took care of the problem.

Read this thread I had out there a while ago. The part is called a "Purge Solenoid Valve" If it's clicking get it fixed, its covered under warranty.
