Weight reduction

Im planning to take out my back seats, spare tire. rear console.trunck floor mat. all interior mats when i go to the drag strip in a few weeks. I took out my rear seat to see how hard it was. Wasn' easy to get out the back of the rear seat in and especially back in.

I couldn't figure out how to take the rear console out i took out the 6 screws but i don't think those screws needed to be taken out. There is a screw in the front of the console, or something conecting it to the car, that i coulndt find.

Could someone tell me where the rear console is attached to the car and how i take it out.

Thanks

why are you stripping the interior? Are you competing at the strip?

Do a search for NiteQwill's DIY spring install instructions. Perfect instructions on taking out the rear seat and console with pics.

I wonder if you have that useless NVH damper up behind your front bumber like I did? There's ~5 lbs. right there.

All that for maybe 25lbs? Whats the point, when you put it back in for the street you cant claim you run that time. Leave it in and spend that energy putting headers or a intake on.

I'm just saying, you'e only gonna lose maybe a tenth with all that taken out, and as soon as you put it back in its pretty pointless.

Come on, OBX or stone for around $300-400, and worth it, I used to have the OBX's and the are good to go too.

I'm planning to do a liposuction. I'm sure I can lose at least 30+ lbs permenately once it for all. That could save me a tenth of a second, too.

Stop being a pussy, if you really want to lose weight take out the front seats and get yourself a milk crate.

Waste of time for maybe 1 or 2 10ths off 1/4 mile. Keep the stuff in. If you really want to reduce weight, get some lighter rims. My 17x8 ssr's only weigh 13lbs each. Each of my rims with tires weight in at 38lbs. That a 12lbs difference from stock at each wheel. Get some lighter brakes. Most of the big brake kits weight less then stock.

Stripping out the back seat for the track is pretty :ghey: on a CL-S. It's not like you are running a car with serious modifications. You are going to run 14.6-15.0 (depending on how you can drive) with your current setup. Dropping that time by a tenth (if that) isn't going to impress anyone.

Get the plasma torch out and cut off the hood and all body panels. Take off the roof (be sure to have a helmet with goggles or visor) but it will suck in the rain. But at least you won't have to worry about the interior getting wet as there would be nothing left. Remove the bumpers, AC and all other non-essentials.

This should net you 750 - 1000 lbs and should make a very quick car. Unfortunately it will not be street legal and people will laugh at you.

Anyway.

If you are really interested in good track times you should really just buy a CRX or Civic hatch and gut it. If you gut those cars enough, do basic mods, and know how to drive you can get decent times on the 1/4 mile.
