Weapon R Secret Weapon

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the weapon r secret weapon intake? just bought a CL-s and almost bought AEM CAI, but figured I'd see if anyone had any thoughts on the weapon r first. Thanks.

I had an weapon R short ram intake with the "dragon filter" in my 96 es300 before i traded that car in for the CLs. It fit perfectly, sounded great during WOT prob had the same gains as any short ram intake... And their intake is unique to others since its made out of that weird foam material instead of a K&n filter. BTW the secret weapon intake looks pretty cool, heres a pic

The intake Looks Ricey??? How's that? I've never heard anyone say that someone elses engine work looks ricey. I've only seen these intakes on ebay so I wouldn't trust them until they get more publisized from good quality.

The intake you should Defininitly go with is the AEM V2. It has an awesome tone at WOT and gives significant gains to a V6.

Its right up next to the battery...wouldnt something like AEM or Injen get more cool air going to it?

One good thing about the shorts is the ease of getting to the filter

well..as long as you get a cold air instead of a short ram, then yes.

That's 100% true with CAI's just watch out for puddles and you're ok. As for the Weapon R I think it might be the same thing as the AEM V2 if it has the humming. They both use the sound waves to increase the path of the air to the TB thus making the humming sound.

I just think it looks like its trying to hard to stand out. The AEM looks flashy without trying to look like a blingy ass intake. JMO

I had one, till some ahole stole it! That's all they stole. Bastards. It did make a loud humming noise, everybody asked me what's wrong with my car. I perfered it over the CAI I replaced it with, don't know why.

I also had a Weapon-R intake on my CL... It was louder and IMO sounded nicer than a CAI, but the humming noise did get very annoying after a while. The J32 doesn't seem to like short ram intakes so I'd recommend staying away, unless you want your car sounding like a UFO.

Sounds like the CAI is the way to go, don't really feel like listening to a constant humming. Thanks for the help.

UFO.. Excellent description.. I think..

I liked the short ram b/c it had more low end where are cars lack.. The cold air is more for top end.. But it was so freakin loud..

My father who is 73 after I took it off said that he kind of liked the more distinct noise.. Weird..

i have the Weapon-R dragon intake and it is sick...my gains are just as much as the comptech, injen and aem, with the custom cold air box i have. this filter has the best airflow design of any out there, and the sound is not ricey, its louder but at least its a respectable sound. and when you go wot it sounds almost like a blow off valve! just sticking up for my intake, dont want any trouble. peace.

i agree with you..i believe weapon-r has the potential to push out some great products....they started making intakes and cheap accessories but from what i've heard from my homeboy they are now a multi million industry and with that and what i've seen done to his 99ek hatch w/ b18c5 motor goodies..seems like they will be comming up soon...some products are really good and yes the dyno is dramatic but its true..... think it was like a 12hp gain the the wheels with the wr intake?? for a rsx type-s..... well im not here to stirr doo doo up either so i will leave it like this.. i will keep you guys posted on the weapon-r products that i'll be getting customized for at weapon-r shop over at san francisco...
