Weapon*R Cold Air Box..

We will be dyno testing the Airbox tommorrow..
I just got pricing back from the BIG CHIPS here.. and they say the airbox will cost about $325.00 with an Intake..

I just wanted to let you guys know what's going on..

Anyways i'll post the details tommorrow.. and im sure Moo will too..

As far as the Humming Noise.. Most people tell me that it's from the filter, but i checked 3 Cl's with the short ram AEM and it makes the same noise. So my conclusion is the Tube length..

For 325 will it out perform the injen/aem cai that costless?

I know it'll probably prevent hydrolock but wat about performance gains. thnx

That is a bit high for a CAI application, That is nice.

What other mods on your car, headers?

227HP and 190 lb.ft is a high for just CAI.

That intake gain looks nice and would be immune from water injection...

I keep wondering what magic juice got put in Mike's car to push 236+ HP vs 225 HP...

Mike, I'm staring to wonder if they built your car/engine on a day when they were playing with port-'n-polish and extrude-hone "kits"...

I can see it, "How I got 236 HP from Intake and Headers in an Acura CLS" by "Mike" (Infomercial and books on sale -- check listings)...

So thats about a 9.6 hp gain....what do you have on there for mods??? If you have headers...they only gave you about 18hp?!?!?! I thought the stock cl-s had about 200 hp and the headers should give between 27 and 32 right? Thats about the same amount of HP as the AEM CAI right but without the chance of hydro lock...hummm sounds very good except the price.

Yeah...I was wondering why it wasn't getting some Mike numbers...but different dynos produce different results....also, I didn't have a fan in front of my car to help simulate wind speed...so, that could account for a few ponies...but whatever, the whole dyno test was to show the diff between the stock and the cold air box.

This falls into the Hmmm.... department...

It sure seems that the CLS -- especially with H/I -- hates higher temps (even with that 'ol SAE correction).

Inquiring minds would love to see some more dynos done at low temps with huge fans churning... (RES test candidates: do you have your Polar expedition gear ready?)

Comptech uses huge fans. 1 in front to simulate wind coming at the car and 1 behind sucking the wind away.

It's been chilly here lately (well...as chilly as San Diego goes anyway) and if Tim will shoot me a RES I'll dyno it immediately.

Damn! I just ordered the AEM CAI w/ bypass. Some other forum members made me feel confident that hydrolock is next-to-impossible so I went ahead and ordered. This discussion is puttin the fear back into me!!! I live in Seattle = RAIN. CAI w/ bypass or cold air box??? UGH!

is there anyway to just order the piping and the heatshield, because that filter is way too ugly, imho...im not trying to diss, but I can probably use a AEM velocity stack or K&N cone filter...

Anything is possible *and* the actual unit has a metal cover -- do you have a pet rat that takes pictures inside closed boxes (Sorry, couldn't resist )...

The picture with clear top was done to allow people to see how it fits together. I called and was told that the top would be aluminum (as in convered).

They told me that the stack/filter they use is better (who knows)...

Hey, I know how you feel.... I have a box with:

K&N replacment (for clean-up the filter days)
Air-bypass valve
K&N cleaning/oiling kit

WOW -- going once, twice .... ????

I'm even more concerned about the dirt that the air-bypass will pull in with its non oiled wimpo foam...

So you guys dyno'd the car with the Weapon R intake first, and then put the stock intake back on the car and redyno'd?

The peak numbers might not be as high as AEM's but not having a fan turned on could maybe account for a few ponies up high. It does give gains everywhere through the power curve though.

Nice!
