A way to keep the auto dim mirror off?

Does anyone know of a way to set the mirror to off when the car starts? The manual indicates this is not tied to memory pf the drivers seat. I turn it off and it's own when I take off again. Thanks.

The auto-dim mirror? Uh just push the button on the bottom that turns off the little green light. Then it will be off. It won't come on unless you push the button again.

I believe it will come back on after you start the car again. Could be wrong, haven't played with it much.

Yeah that switch was throwing me off. The mirror turns on when ever the vehicle is started. I would rather it only come when the on/off button is depressed. So the question should have been is there a way to prevent the mirror from turning on when the car is started??

Is this a 6 speed/2003 thing? My 2002 stays off unless I press the button. It does not come on when I start the car.

The mirror only operates with the button: Up it's ON; Down it's OFF.

When ON a green LED glows. I leave mine on always.

It definitely must be an '03 thing because my switch is not a "momentary" switch, it's a true on/off switch. If I leave it off, it stays off even when I start the car. If I leave it on, it stays on even when I start the car.

It's NOT an 03 thing. Mine is an 03.

Perhaps it's an 03 Navi thing?

Exactly, it's an OnStar thing with the redesigned rear view mirror.

This was probably the thinking as they redesigned it that way.

I don't need it most times. I have 15% tint on the back. That does fine for me. Sometimes I do use it on road trips. But I keep it off most times to avoid it burning out as others have.

I have seen posts here regarding the mirror needing to be replaced as the mirror it ceases to operate. There seemed to be a concensus that leaving it off until needed is the best way to aviod the mirror failure. I just forget to turn it off after the car starts. It probably not that big a deal anyway.

I leave mine on all the time. I'll let Acura replace it if it poops out (eventually).
