Warranty and aftermarket parts?

I have a 2003 cls that is an automatic. I am on my third tranny I wanted to do some aftermarket stuff such as a cold air intake, headers, exhaust and maybe lowering springs. I really want to do this stuff but I sure as hell don't want to void my warranty incase there are any more tranny problems. I live in Orlando Florida. I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas as to what I should do. I know that a lot of you guys have stuff done to your cars and I was also wondering if you still have warranty. Any info would be a big help. Thanks.

it is a type-s, i bought it from a dealer, it was a demo with 3000 miles. I got it for $28,800. I drive fast sometimes but not all of the time. I love the feel of that vtec engine. It is addicting. I have only 15,000 miles on the car. First tanny was at 8,000, second at 12,000 I think. Im not sure if this second one will last. That is why I need to keep warranty.

Keep the warranty? 15,000 miles and (2) transmissions? Screw the warranty, lose the car!

What is the record for shortest tranny life for a 5AT Type-S? If he's close with those numbers, 4,000mi seems hard to beat.

tranny

Yes I can lemon the car if the third tranny goes. That is why warranty is so important. Also thats a good reason to hold onto the car.

Wow.. Now that sucks. Do you know the manufacture date? It is on the drivers door sill. I have 03 that was made 8/02. I havent had any tranny problems yet...... The dealer said that my car is not one of the cars that gets the 100K warranty. But we will say. Mine also was a demo... You CL had to have been made around that date? Check and let me know the date if you can.
How do they know if my car fits under the 100,000 mile warranty or not?
- I know this thread isnt about the tranny but damn....

Its up the the dealer to let an aftermarket part void the warranty. Mostly, it will not void the whole warranty. if something MAJOR goes wrong, they can try and say that it was your aftermarket part or the labor that caused the problem and then go from there. But NO, most dealers have no problem at all with MOST aftermarket parts.

Aftermarket

I had a 2001 maxima(totaled) before I bought my 2001 cl type s. As long as most of the modfications were bolt on my warranty was ok. With springs you will void the warranty on your suspension. Headers, intake and exhaust wobnt bc u can take it off before u give it back to the dealership for them to check

The trans warranty is only good for 01-02, & some 03 models. If your is on the 03 list I'm sorry.

As for mods, depends on the dealers you have. Generally, they shouldn't affect you warranty. The parts have to be proved to be the cause of your problem. Now some dealers like all the idiots by me follow this policy of any mod kills any warranty you have. Then you have to get the factory rep involved, & then if that doesn't work your only re-course is another dealer, or lawsuite.
