warped rotors....

my rotors are warped and the guy at the dealer said they are gonna resurface them before they replace em, is this what all the acura dealers do?? i'm pretty sure the same problem is gonna happen again, is there any way i can get em to replace em instead of resurfacing them??

I tried talking to them about replacing them, but they said they basically resurface them once or twice before they will replace them.

Ah, I noticed some steering wheel shaking when braking from 60MPH. It is clearly evident when I am not holding the steering wheel. Howver, when I hold the steering wheel, I do feel some vibrations, but it is not severe. Is it enough to get the rotors re-surface for the second time?

I will give the dealer a call if he said bring-it-in will do it under the TSB then no problem for me.

My dealer will not resurface rotors. Have changed them twice for me now (1st @ 13K and second @ 34K).

They put on the work order that they were unable to turn rotors...

Good luck. Clowns at Sunnyside wouldn't help me with my warped rotors this spring.

Buldog.. if it doesn't work out.. I will wait a bit at the right time, slap on some Brembo blanks rotor on 4 corners, then, Semi-metalic or Ceramic brakes (not sure now), SS brake lines, and new Brake fluid)...

They did re-surface mine at 22.5K service, and replaced them at 30K service. They said that they were warped all the way. I was surprised because Concord dealership is known for their bad service, but i guess i was just lucky .

I can't believe that on the 2003 models Acura STILL has not fixed this problem. Makes me wonder about the tranny's.

Getting mine completely replaced w/ new pads in the morning. Acura is paying for the parts, I take the labor (I'm over 50k miles). They didn't even mention just trying to resurface them.

I had the TSB done to my rotors/pads around 15k. Now I am at 30k and on the highway when I slow down a bit, the steering wheel will rock back and forth about 1/2" when not holding it.

I had PAA take a look last week during my 30k service, and they said everything was fine.

Dealer "gave" me new discs

When my 2001 CL-S reached 34k last May, the discs warped, and I took a copy of Service Bulletin 01-017 to Ferman Acura in Tampa. Wayne the service writer pretended not to know anything about the bulletin and babbled on about how brakes are a wear item, etc., and wouldn't be covered by warranty anyway. So I showed him my printout of the bulletin, and he transformed into a different person! I got both service writers to admit that this was happening to all CL/TLs (they see 10 a week), that Acura should recall them for this safety related defect, and that they had put new discs on their own cars. But still he wouldn't give me new discs on mine and actually thought he was doing me a favor by adhering to the instuctions in the bulletin. So they resurfaced the discs and put new updated pads on. I explained that they were just masking the problem, because once they're warped, that's it. The warp is in the grains of the metal and any resurfacing is just a temporary reshaping of the disc. He kind of agreed, but said that was up to his district manager and that they might give me free discs under some kind of "good will."
So yesterday when I took it to the dealer after the discs had warped again at 48k, I asked Wayne if I could have new discs, and he called back and said that if I paid $55 for pads they would give me discs as a "one time goodwill per Acura DPSM." (District Service Manager?) So I said OK. It felt like they were wringing every last dollar out of me, but my car will be out of warranty in 2 months, and it saves me from a brake job out of warranty or possibly buying new discs a year from now. Perhaps these new discs will warp as well (why wouldn't they?), but other than buying new aftermarket discs, what choice do I have?
My car also had a failed interior mirror and warped armrests. So I have to go back when the right side armrest comes in.

All in all, it seems as if Acura/Honda is being run by the accountants and lawyers instead of by the dear departed Mr. Honda, whose name is on the cars and who would have been embarassed and apologetic for giving us weak brakes. I guess as long as they stay about equal with Toyota and are making lots of money and gaining market share, they're happy. My dad bought a Lexus IS300 after hearing about the nonsense tranny problems remaining unsolved on our cars. Mine is still OK. Tick, tick...

I got new rotors at 35K from the dealer, i paid for the pads.

That set of replacements just warped at 67K.

I just replaced w/brembo oem rotors and pads from Tire Rack, plus 1 hour labor at Midas.

$100 for the rotors, $45 for pads and $65 for labor.

Had the parts shipped to the Midas. Car was done before I finished the morning emails.

$210............out the door.
