Warning about The Tire Rack
Just an FYI about an experience I had with The Tire Rack....
I purchased my Kumhos through their online website. In doing so, they give you a choice of where you want the tires shipped from. The choices are Nevada, Indiana or Louisiana. It gives you a price of shipping for each location and lets you know whether or not your tires are in stock. If they are not in stock, an approximate "in stock" date is given. For me, living in AZ, I chose to ship them from Reno, because that's the closest and therefore cheapest distribution site for me. It turns out that Reno was out of stock, but they were in stock in Indiana and Louisiana. Since I didn't need the tires right away and they looked like they'd be in stock in a couple days, I chose Reno anyways. So at that point, you get an order confirmation number and the price including shipping is charged to your credit card (or so you think!!) A couple days later I get a order shipping confirmation notice and it tells me they shipped the tires from Indiana. Me, the eternal optimist thinks... "Oh, how nice, they're out of stock in Reno, and they're shipping them from Indiana for me since they're in stock there. Nice business practice!" But then the pessimist thinks... "hmmm, I hope they don't plan on charging me the shipping rate from Indiana!" The shipping confirmation email didn't mention anything about paying extra shipping since it was shipped from a location other than what I chose. When you think about it, that would be kinda crappy to not give someone the option of waiting for the other location to get the tires in stock and MAKING your customer pay the extra shipping. So again, the eternal optimist in me thinks everything will be fine. Well, long story short, I get my credit card bill and fuckers charged me shipping from Indiana. Ummm... no... don't think so!! So, I make a quick call to the Tire Rack and Grace tells me they'll credit my account. It's only about $20, but still - it's the principle....
So, for anyone who orders from the Tire Rack, save your printout that tells you what they're charging your credit card and make sure that's what they actually charge you. I bet they do this shit on purpose!!
