Want to introduce myself.

My name is Michael. 27 MN. Car enthusiast. I just picked up an 01 CL 3.2 type S 2 days ago. I am excited! I never thought I'd have a car like this as a daily driver. But the $ was to good to pass up.

Anyways. Here is a post I made on another forum I belong too. twinturbo.net

I can't wait to learn more about this car and see is all available to do to it.

-------------------------------------------------
Mr. Acura CL 3.2 Type S meet the family!
Been looking for a new daily driver for some time now.
Currently been driving a 94 Buick Century 4cyl.

Before I get into anymore details. Let me list off the family.

Currently have:
1. 1998 Accord 4dr LX 4cyl. 149k miles. <-- Handed down from mom. (Thanks mom!)
2. 1994 Buick Century 4cyl. 94k miles <-- Handed down from gramps. (Thanks Gramps!)
3. ZSPEED : 1990 NA 98k miles. <-- Can't 4get the Z.
4. 1981 Toyota Corolla wagon 5spd 41k original miles!!! <-- Thanks Aunt Dort.
5. New to the family as of today. 2001 Acura 3.2 CL Type S. 59k miles. All the bells and whistles. Leather, HID, Navi. etc...

Parents ( I say parents because we see each other and talk a lot. No I don't live @ home. I'm 27 and doing just fine on my own.) have been on my back for some time now to ditch the honda and buick for a newer, more reliable less mileage car to drive daily. I've been looking on carsoup.com and traderonline.com for a few months now. I always see cars that get my attention, but when I call the owner they are sold . Well not this time. Last night I found this beauty. Went in today to check it out, next thing I know I'm doing the papers and driving her home.

Beautiful car. Paint has some minor scuffs and blemishes, but still really clean. I love that it has HID and Navi. Never used Navi. before so it will be interesting. Also never had a car with leather or a sunroof before either. I feel like its my birthday all over again!!!!

While your reading I gotta tell you the story about the 81 rolla. My great aunt lived next door to my grandma my entire life. In 1981 my great aunt purchased this 81 corolla wagon. And all these yrs she has only drove it back and forth to volunteer gigs and the grocery store. Not even church! I remember seeing this car since I was a youngin. And ever since I was 12 I wanted it. The time came to me when she moved out to CA. The car is in pristine condition!!! Smells new! 41k babied original miles! She kept a folder with every receipt since day 1, including car washes and oil changes. I am one lucky guy!

Here is a link to todays purchase.

Sorry to ramble on and on. Just wanted to share the good news.

Welcome......I'm amazed with your collection of really low mileage cars. You are pretty lucky, I would love to get that Corolla. Even the CL is barely broken in yet.
Must be nowhere to drive up there

Welcome - My fondest memory of my '01 was when the VTEC kicks in at about 4800 rpm's (if memory serves!)

Make sure you feel a boost at this rpm level with your car as well. I would also study this site for headers, cold air intakes, etc.

Good luck!

Dave

Congrats man. Just keep an eye on that Tranny. Sometimes you're lucky and it'll be fine, but sometimes you're not.

It's hard to believe you didn't know that since you ask the same exact question on every single thread on this whole damn site. If you didn't own a CL I'd guess you were a .

Yes it is an Auto.

I don't know a thing about this car...yet.
I know the reliability/dependipility of Hondas though.
I jumped on the opportunity to buy this car when I had the chance not knowing anything about them.

The tranny was replaced once prior with Acura warranty. Thats pretty much all I know.

Do these cars have tranny issues?
Someone replied to add a transmission cooler.
Do these work? And worth it to actually make a differance?

I really have no plans for mods.
I would like to make those driving lapms look better?
What size bulb is in the driving lamp? 194?
Would it make a differance or look any better by adding PIAA bulbs in there? Was thinking PIAA super white or a PIAA gold bulb? Don't want anything to "ricey".

Was also thinking if I add gold bulbs in driving lamps, I would add a pair of PIAA Platinum 1000X driving lights. I have pair of PIAA platinum in my 300zx and they work pretty good.

Just don't know how it would look while also running HID in the headlights?

How about black headlight housing? Are there any drawbacks to performance or lightout VS stock housing? And how hard are they to do? Simple DIY for anyone or DIY with mechnical/technical background?

Not planning on any peroformance mods. If I need speed I drive the 300zx. Maybe if something goes like the exhaust I might add a better performance one. But this car is simmply just a daily driver. Need it to be reliable, perform adequate and look nice.

Possible rims in thefuture. But I dont realy want to lower the car. Dont know how aftermarket 17 would look?

I still have much to learn about this car. Much, much to learn!!! I plan to search the site here looking @ others car, getting ideas for mods/upgrades.

thanks for the open arms welcome

welcome to acurazine, I'm sure you'll find this to be one great help but one huge addiction at the same time. There are many members on here that can help you out with just about anything (and more) than you'd ever need to know about your CL. Just make sure you use the search function if you're curious about something (befrore posting). It will save you a lot of frustration and harassment from other members. Time to post some pics!

Thanks again everyone.

I think one of the 1st mods I'll do is make those darn driving lamps look better.

I did a search and found tons of posts.

Does anyone have a link ot know where I can buy new driving lamps.
1 is cracked and 2nd dirty.

- Place I got the CL from is supposed to replace. But just in case they dont.
