VW modded with ?

This AM about 3 blocks from my job I came up on a light with a Black tinted window VW Bug, with a For Sale sign in the back window. He moved up half a car lenght at the red light before the light changed. I had this feeling he want to go at the light so I gave him the half and stayed put. When the light changed he nailed it and I let him get a jump knowing I would have no problem putting him behind me in a matter of seconds. Well I nailed it short of spinning tires, and that Damm Bug stay a half car in front of me and was holding on. I was shocked as hell and pulled even with him when I SS auto shifted into 2nd. Thru 2nd I was able to put him back behind me only the same half a car lenght he had on me and the Bug would not go away. He was holding behind me and I could not believe it. That Bug had a Growling sounding Motor that was deep and low. I ended up getting 1, only 1 car lenght on him and had to turn into work after a 2 long block run. That thing was fast as hell. I figured it was a Turbo Motor or NOS because it was Roaring so much. I don't know much about VW's. Anybody have a Idea of what Mod or Ran up on any VW's this strong. I have I/H/Straight CAT and 02 simms. 01 CLS auto. That's it I'm getting a ZEX kit soon !

How long were your 2 blocks? Our cars aren't THAT powerful that you would get a huge lead in 2 short blocks. If your race went on for 1/4 mile or so then you probably would have put a couple more cars on the VW.

Hard to discribe how long the blocks were. I got up to about 50-60 MPH. About 1/2 way to a next far light. I was feeling like I would have left him further in time but he shocked me hanging on like he did.

yea the factory turbo is 0-60 in about 8 seconds....the Turbo S on the other hand is about as quick as a Cooper S, low 7 second 0-60 and low 15s in the 1/4.

My girl had a stock 01 turbo beetle and I whooped her ass, there was hardly a point in even trying

a modded 1.8T can get you 250 WHP easily... with just a $400 mod!

Turbo chips can give big gains. Much more than N/A cars. Reason being they increase Boost along with Air/Fuel Mix and Timming. I could believe with Intake, Exhaust, and Chip w/ more Boost you could get a pretty good gain. Not saying 60 hp though.

BTW saw him again this AM passed my job and lined up at another light. Did not give him the lead break from the light. I left him by 3 cars by the time we got to 70MPH. Now that he can't sleep on me I don't think he thinks he can stay with a 3.2 CLS anymore. Pay back's a bitch.

Nice payback kill! It's really amazing what 1/2 car length lead can do for a race. Not only is it the distance but you're likely to be 1000rpm or more closer to the sweet spot in the engine as well.
