Vtec indicator light

I know this was talked about last year sometime, I can't find any threads on it though. Has anyone actually done this mod? If so pictures/instructions?

I see you already have a CAI so you can already HEAR it, why do you need to SEE it ???

Maybe it can be setup to trigger the underbody neon lights when it hits vtech?

^^^

I love seeing vtec spelled wrong twice in the same post.

yes, you can change the VTEC engagement time, but it's probably already set at the optimal rpm. Some other honda's are not set at the best rpm time, BUT once you do several mods to the car, you MAY need to change the vtec engagement rpm to a different setting for optimal performance.

there is no way the regular TL or CL's engage VTEC that late...I can hear the engine sound change at about 3800RPM - no way its 5500 RPM - the TLP redline is about 6300RPM...so 800RPM for VTEC??? I dont think so.

who knows, I just know that when I accelerate moderately, once I hit 3800RPM's, I can hear and feel the engine kick it up a notch

Maybe you can install a light that tells you when your car is on right next to the VTEC indicator light.

My source was the Chod's FAQ's.

Could've been mistyped though. I don't have a CLP to verify.

Blah blah blah, who needs a VTEC indicator light? The only reason I have one is because it's built into the V-AFC II. Goes from green to red when VTEC engages. Totally useless, though, in my opinion. I much rather prefer hearing it.

You can feel and hear VTEC engage in my car. It throws you back in the seat more and in 1st gear, the tires break loose from time to time. I can't hear VTEC engage from the engine though. Blower whine covers up all engine noise.

I want blower whine!!!

BTW - I'm pretty sure (95%) that the '99TL's VTEC kicks in at 3800RPM because others have said the same thing on the TL site

VTEC people, VTEC.
Type-S VTEC changeover occurs at 4800 RPM's

Even without a AEM CAI, if you know your engine you can still hear it change over.

I am very hard of hearing, but you can feel it. I cant go any faster since I have every bolt on from comptech, so NOS IS NEXT my HP is 240.06 and torque is 199.9 so I think a 75 shot should get me into the low 13's

vtec for the CL-S is at around 5K but i think it's 4900 to be exact. the reason why you feel a punch aroudn the 3K rpm range is because the torque on the CL is rated to be the highest in that area.

VTEC is 4800 rpm on the CLS.

And torque is pretty flat throughout the powerband. Torque might be highest at 3000 rpms but it doesn't fall by more than 5 anywhere throughtout.

N/A CL-S
