Video - Road race of Vette vs. S2000

Large video and it takes a while to load even on cable. Worth the wait though!

That was funny to watch...you could tell the Corvette guy was having trouble following the line the S2000s was taking around parts of the track. Especially that last one...

The drivers a cool character, didnt even mouth off when he lost control like that one other video clip

but interesting to see a natural response in the arm reach for the roof..

That was damn funny! Obviously, the guy driving the vette wasn't that skilled (watch his apexes, they were hurting) He wasn't pushing that thing at all, uh, except for that last part. But boy could that S2K driver go, watch as his butt hopping around the track. I can't believe "I'm all right" is the only thing that comes out of ones mouth after successfully mating a vette with a gard-rail.

Damn, that last part was a surprise. I looked away from the race for a minute and looked back and the vette was rolling over and I was just like oh shit.

The S2000 was ripping shit up with its handling.

The Vete driver learned a costly lesson there! Wow, I wonder what mods the S2k had?

Thanks for the link... dont get all excited though... I dont think anyone is bashing. We have more Vette & former Vette owners here then S2k owners.

Anyway, interesting story... cant believe that dude stayed so calm... I would have been throwing a hissy fit.

what story... i read the string and i appears that the vette just spun out. apparently he's a good driver, so whats the excuse? i guess it wasn't a fair race to begin with, it was a four-banger you were racing against :humiliation:

damn, that sucks. Such a nice car too. I'm amazed that he couldn't catch an S2000 pretty much at all. He said it was a featured car in a mag, but still......

oh well... he should have gotten the active handling package if he was gonna drive it on the track... probably would have corrected for a skid like that... nevermind, i guess it wasn't available yet... shifting in the middle of a turn is not a good idea, though

It does not. There is a post by the guy who flipped in the thread that the corvette guy posted. He paid this out of his pocket.... $17,800 in damage!

Active Handling wont do you any good if you are in the grass and going 100+MPH. Usually though... drivers turn that off for better performance through road courses....

This driver spent all last year chasingdown a famous Porsche driver... if you look at the videos... there is really no sure opportunity to pass... and you are not supposed to take passes on corners... plus... the dynamics of this vehicle are extremely different than that of the S2000.

My friend and I race SCCA Solo together.. he drives an S2000 and I drive my C5... I must say the cars both handle very well... i never did say anything bad about the S2000 tho.

The guy also started suffering from seazures due to the accident. Keep in mind that these cars are not stock by any stretch of the imagination. Corvettes handle very well but you have to be careful with the throttle. The C5s are tail happy. Active Handling does help if it is active. I have a C5, but due to slow down in the telecommunications industry I have to get rid of it. Got a CLS to tie me over. In the meantime my CLS will get the mod money the C5 had.
