Very strange tint problem

Got 5% rear, 20% sides, & 50% full windshield tint done last week. It is non-metallic SolarGuard. My radio reception was starting to get flaky, and I attributed it to the tint. However, I noticed that it ONLY got fuzzy when I turned the rear defroster on. I mean as soon as I would hit the button it would get less clear. The defoster still works perfect and the tint install looks fine. Any ideas?

Hmm, I have the same SolarGuard tint and I see no loss in reception when using my rear defroster. Is your area already prone to lost/static reception?

The only possiblity I can think of is they may have cut when using the razorblade to cut the edge. Is maybe they cut one of the connections..

If you are listening to AM, it may be that the magnetic field made by the defroster is somehow bouncing towards the antenna and screwing with the signal.

If you are listening to FM, who knows

Darkside Window tinting in shelby twp. I'll look closely and make sure they didnt mess up any of the connections, but I highly doubt it. If they messed up a connection it would be crappy all the time, not just with the defroster on. And its with the FM, havent even tried AM.

Its been very cloudy & overcast the last couple days, so maybe thats not helping either. I'm not horrifically concerned about it, because I usually listen to my XM, but since my car fogs up like crazy I usually have the rear defroster on all the time.

I with Mr. Jones on this, as I HAVE a metallic tint and I have not had any radio signal strength problems.

Well I put the back seat back in today and thouroughly inspected the tint job. No cuts or damage was there, so I'm baffled. Oh well, just need to make some more new cd's I guess, or get an mp3 player.

I'm not sure how well these work, but there are many brands out there. Maybe someone has used one before...FM Signal Booster...most car audio shops have them.
