velocity stck filter COMBO!?
so i was cruising ebay since i'm buying a Simota catch can, and I saw they make intakes with a velocity stack built in on the TOP!
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Universal-Simota-...item4839610174
I think this should theoretically be the BEST filter for HP..
opinions please

There was a thread on these not to long ago: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...velocity+stack
Go for it.
Go for it.
Don't know if I would call that a velocity stack.
That filters mouth opens up to fast.
It should be tight with the size of the hole then roll out.
That one looks to roll out to soon in the design.
do you have a pic straght on looking at the hole or the filtration set up on the end.

From what Im gathering from that auction, the "velocity stack" is simply a mesh screen.
Not only that, but the 15-20whp gains are hilarious. And it doesnt say if you can clean it.
Id pick up a velocity stack from an auto parts store and then get an appropriate K&N filter for it. Its more expensive up front, but its been proven to work and and it will last longer since you can clean them.

obviously the HP comment is horse shit as all those BS hp quotes are. But
still doesn't mean it is not better than a conventional intake filter.. that's all i'm tryin to ask here..
not like i'm buying it asap. i'm just checking my options... my filter is 10 months old so i need a new on in not too long.
I luv a clean filter

yea i got the typical one, that injen supplied.
I do not clean my filters I do not believe in cleaning them.
the way i see it once the color is gone, that means it's filled with crap.
sure u can clean the filter but it's never as good as new.. and I just love knowing i got a clean filter on there. for the 25$ it costs it's well worth it.

Injen claims they have a built in velocity stack inside their filter so there's has to be the best direct replacement... hell i already got an INJEN CAI, i should stick with the same brand for the hell of it... but god damn
replacement filters are expensive.
80$ at my local performance warehouse "my HEAVEN"

yea but injen is as good probably, if not better. And K&N is too common imho, I like going against the grain
apparently ur supposed to change ur filter every 6 months, online so it says. who knows really, that seems crazy imho
I'm gonna do it just shy of a year at approximately 11 months and 32000kms, and even that i thought is premature. But w/e
I'll sell my "old one" for 30 to someone on kijiji.ca lol

so what filters do most of you run??
I just took a peak at mine and it's still quite red.. i'm gonna hold off a lil on putting a new one on... I'll wait till summer or something to put the new one on.. I'm gonna order the injen one in the meantime i think just so i got stock..
lol i got 14 mobile 1 filters, 1 atf filter, and soon an intake filter to go on the shelf.
I want mobile 1 synthetic to go on sale around here so i can get some STOCK too.
I like overstocked parts when it comes to my car :-)
what brand of filter do you use?? list

K&N filter for me. I have one on the car and one as a spare so I don't have any downtime when I switch in the one I cleaned the day before so its fully dry and oiled. My filter gets dirty pretty quick, I swap them once or twice a year....my engine likes to suck
i never figured out how these work.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=370334892078
do you use one at a time? does the velocity stack go inside the filter?
i dont get it

i dunno but Injen's filters ALL have it and it is built into the filter so there is no screwing around or anything like that. why is why I'm kinda set on the injen now..
i get attached to brands it's weird lol

^ amsoil filters are made from nano fibers. No oil needed as filteration pores are already small. I know as I am a amsoil dealer, but I still use my K&N filters as I haven't run into any problems. The only thing I would check is the mesh wire that K&N uses. Make sure there are not any leftover from them cutting. I've seen some of the mesh wires sitting on the filter with is a big no no when it goes into the engine.
I use the oil filters and oil as I swear by them

^
this one is not the correct filter, it has the wrong dimensions
I'm just showing you how it's got a different composition.

This is quoted off http://shop.edoperformance.com/injen...th-p-5741.html
"Injen set out to develop the ultimate filter design, and they have come up with the Injen Universal Filter. After extensively testing rubber and plastic compounds they came upon a urethane rubber that is able to withstand elevated temperatures with zero distortion. Urethane is a light weight material which will not fade and will hold its shape for the life of the filter. Injen pioneered the technique of incorporating the built-in velocity stack in the filter base. Injen Technology filters have been tested repeatedly on a flow bench and on a dynomometer against the leading competition's filter elements and have out-performed them every time. Based on these test results it's no wonder that the competition has taken steps to duplicate Injens filter design utilizing their techniques in molding urethane compounds."
until I read this I didn't know they pioneers that style/design

k&n claims you can go 50000 MILES on a filter, given good conditions.
and it's only been 20K for mine right now...
maybe I should wait and not waste my $..... on that

I have about 35k on my K&N, i'll probably clean it next oil change or something. I dont think you want to always keep it super clean cause then the opinions that K&N let in too much dirt starts to come to mind.
that amsoil filter is probably similar to the dry flo, no oil needed.

and this is taken directly off Injen's website, so I guess I do not have to replace mine for some time
How often you need to clean your filter will depend on the air and road conditions in your area. Most filters require cleaning before the dirt build up gets as thick as the wire mesh. The usual interval is 30,000 - 40,000 miles depending on driving conditions. We recommend that you check your filter about once a year in normal usage and once every six months if you are located in a dirty environment. If you are running with a cold air intake we recommend checking the filter every 10,000 vê 15,000. Using a Hydro-Shield will reduce service intervals.

heres how loud the intake screams on a camera phone.
