Valve Adjustment Dealer Pricing??
hey guys, my local dealer wanted $500 to do a valve adjustment. Does this sound right? My car's in need of one really bad, but $500 seems a lot. Let me know how much you guys paid for yours. Thanks

Is there any problem if you don't get the valves adjusted? I've been hearing the ticking noise for about 70k miles and it was reduced after I had my 105k service done, but I'm not sure if they adjusted the valves or not.

If your under warranty it should be covered. If not the $500 range isn't a bad price. It's not a great price either though.
The car does have to be cold & most of the top end needs to come off. If you have the tools You can do it yourself. The spec is on a label under the hood. It's not that hard to do really. the biggest scare is taking all that stuff off.

I personally have barely 60k miles, and my valves tick like crazy. Pisses me off so damn bad. Once I get my cams installed, I'll be adjusting my own valves... if I don't do the cam install myself, in which case I'll do both at the same time.

Mine tick slightly, but so did my 4cyl '95 Accord. Damn thing always ticked. I had the valves 3 times and it always made that damn noise. Now my CL is starting to make that noise. Weird.

The car is supposed to tick... It's a Honda.. it's common, don't worry... now if it's really chattering, then you may actually need an adjustment.
My INtegra GSR ticks, my boss's AV6 ticks (20k miles on it), friends dad's stock CLS-6 ticks w/15k miles on it.
I don't believe the CL/CLS needs a valve adjustment until 100k or so.
I remember mine would tick like crazy after being driven hard... but it wasn't anything I couldn't live with. Besides do you all drive Ace Ventura style ?
