I tried to find the info at my local Acura dealership, but this is all I got.

http://www.continentalacura.com/mult...07.1/maint.pdf

It's $99.95 for an Integra, how could it possibly be so much more for the CL? We don't have 64 valves.

Are they noisy or are you just looking at it from a preventative measure? Mine has 69k on it and the motor is as quiet as it was new. Then again, I dont race it.

Kinda but not really I can't hear them when I'm in the car and can't hear it when driving.
I'm not gonna do it right now, maybe in a couple of months or so.

I thought our valves were self-adjusting, i.e. they didn't need to be calibrated manually -- even at the 105k maintenance.

I inquired about this at my dealer, tech said it was a bitch to get to the valves, and they stay hot/warm even if left overnight. Of course I don't know shit about them so he could have been puffing smoke.

an integra valve adjustment takes like 20 minutes...a cl tkes a couple of hours. Integra requires removing just the valve cover which is held on by 8 nuts. A cl requires removal of the intake manifold, throttle body assy and misc secondary air valve, etc...plus on our cl,s there are two cylinder heads and the rear ones are tight to get in there. on the integra they are right there and very accessable. $340 seems a little high but not completely unreasonable.

And our valves aren't self-adjustiing. They don't normaly need adjustment unless they are noisy...but it does happen.

When I first got the car I didn't notice it but when I noticed it I went crazy cus I come from Nissans and when you hear a noise like that it means your due for another motor soon.

I'd do a search on this forum about this topic. There's some knowledgeable guys on here that have talked about this before. Just a thought.

It's kind of a loud ticking. I can hear mine sometimes when I'm pulling into the garage. Mechanical valves (as opposed to hydraulic) will have some noise. I thought my Prelude valves were noisy at 100k miles but when I checked them for adjustment they were in spec. I still adjusted them a bit.

it's OK...what u have to listen for is a ticking noise from the valve covers...However our cars fuel injectors make a pretty loud ticking noise too...so u kinda have to know what ur looking for. But I will tell u this...in 5 years at acura, I have seen maybe 5 TL's or CL's w/ noisy valves. I got close to 60K on mine and they are fine. The valve ticking will be a more metalic ticking noise while the fuel injectors will be more of a plastic soundind ticking noise.

^^

So, to summarize what you're saying: you don't recommend paying to have them adjusted unless you notice a problem?

NO...most if not ALL members here w/ under 60K does NOT need a valve adjustment. If over 60K then take ur car to a TRUSTFUL mechanic and have him give his opinion on whether or not u need one. But like I said take it to someone u know and trust that can tell u but also make sure he can recognize the normal ticking noise from the fuel injectors.

I'm at 95k on my '01, and I'm thinking I'll have them checked at the dealer (or whomever I pick) when I get the timing belt replaced at 105k.

How much does the timing belt replacement cost anyway? I'm also at 95k miles.
