Valve Adj/Motor Mounts
Figured some folks would like to reference my dealership visit for valve adjustment and motor mount replacement. Cost just over 1K, yes i know, expensive but i feel it was worth it. Honda dealership that did timing belt/water pump etc. said they didn't offer valve adj (?) and their price for motor mounts/install wasn't much cheaper than Acura. Great service as well, i asked for all three MM to be replaced but they said the rear one was perfect so they left it there to save me the $. Anyways, HUGE difference:
Motor is much quieter and more free revving. Much better throttle response/acceleration without having to downshift. Very smooth and quiet overall.
Dealership also ordered new front seat belt retractors for replacement under the warranty.
Changed out trans filter and did 3x3 with Amsoil as well last week. Shifts are very quick and smooth. Overall car is smooth as silk and running as well, if not better, then when i bought it in '05 with 69K (now has 123K).
Really feels almost as new as the '11 TL/tech auto non-awd i had for a couple days while work was performed. Couple thoughts on that:
All the tech was exceptional and easy to use. Overall very nice and comfortable interior except for a couple things. Visors seemed kinda cheap/small, ones in the CL are better. Moon roof shade slides too easily/feels cheap, CL better.
Definitely much better brakes than the CL.
Steering feel is kinda numb, probably due to the electric assist, i definitely prefer the tighter feel of the CL.
CL is more sporty/fun to drive but again this was auto/non-awd so i'm sure my opinion would be different if i had one with those

I've got 200K on my car now and I haven't had my valves adjusted. They are pretty damn loud at this point. When I get to 210K I'll have it done when I take care of the timing belt and water pump. I'm interested to see how much of a difference I notice.

$1000 for 2 motor mounts and a valve adjustment. ![EEK!](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Wow, you really need to find a local mechanic that works on Acura/Honda.
But hey, as long as you're happy.

$500+ for the motor mounts doesn't seem too excessive (parts are a couple hundred) but that means it was roughly $500 for the valve adjustment as well. Doesn't seem too bad for dealership pricing but NSXNEXT is right it could have been done for a few hundred less. You should search the regional forums to see if there is a good independent mechanic near you who can do the work for you in the future.

I just did my mounts last night and I'm doing a valve adjustment Saturday morning.
I'll keep you guys posted on the VA, but after the mounts the car feels a world better. No more odd vibrations, more linear acceleration, and no clunking sound in from of car when hitting a bump...My front mount was SHOT.

I realized it was pretty expensive but i was expecting it and feel like it was worth it. The dealership was great and that was the only work they have done in the 5 years i have had the car (except for two ATF changes). Now i have a brand new feeling car and a dealership that is willing to help (they ordered me new seat belt retractors for the front).
Cost was $440 for valve adj + $275 for MM labor + cost of MM = just over $1K.

This is why people still go to the dealership because they *should* be the guys that you know will do it right and can trust them with it, hence the premium price.
Out of curiosity what was there any info on the lifetime warranty for the seatbelt retractor? my passenger one is shot and the dealer up here refuses to fix it under that warranty. So I was just wondering if there is like a code or something I can go to them and quote to see if they will do the work. Thanks dude.

Different countries though so I'm not sure how well that will work for me.
I think I'm going to do some calling around today because its a serious pain in the ass.
