for those of you who do have it. whats this thing about updating. how often do you have to update your v1 and does it cost anything?

Cost depends on how old yours is or when the last time you upgraded was. I haven't updated mine cuz I don't think it's cost effective to get the slimmer model and the latest laser sensors. My upgrade, according to the website would be $189.00.
