VAFC Installed and running, well almost (pic) / new take on an old shift knob (pic)

Well I installed my VAFC. Realized that the cable was not going to reach. I will be getting an extension soon. Here's the pics of it running. Gotta get it tuned, might wait till after I get UR pulleys.

The controller slides down when the sunglass holder is opened so you can see it better from the driver's seat.

As for the shift knob, I took a TypeS knob and painted the TypeS emblem Satin Silver to match the rest of the interior. Oh and BTW, the threads on the TypeS knob are much smaller than on my 99. I had to drill out the hole with a 3/8" drill bit and form new threads to get it to fit.

Did it all myself. I had to cut the sunglass holder and mold it using epoxy putty. It took me about a week and a half to do it.

I got mine in a groupbuy. I paid $150 for it. I was told they are not going to do the groupbuy that cheap anymore. It'll probably run you in the $200 range.

Before you all say that I'm nuts to pay that much for a harness, take a look at how much work went into this thing.

You can't buy them. The 99TL had a shift plate that was chrome plated and then Acura, in their infinite wisdom, painted over it with the gray paint. A few minutes in paint stripper and it was chrome again.

IT ONLY WORKS ON THE 1999TL. NO OTHER YEARS TLs OR CLs WERE CHROME.

Here's a better picture.

Oh one more thing. It won't fit an 01-03 CL or an 00-03 TL. They have 5-speed trannies. The 99TL was a 4-speed. The gate is different.

Hopefully you haven't ordered it yet.

right on NSXNEXT!!!

I have to agree that is one hell of a badass harness!!!! Some regular wire and a package of butt splices and you could easily make your own extension(just take it one wire at a time)

How much of wiring do u have to run from the sunglass holder to the ECU? I too was contimplating on purchasing the harness and a new VAFC but wiated untill the new VAFC II came out that allows the driver the use of 2 parameters that can be programed. Kinda like a street/strip or cruise/sport mode of configuration rather than just one configured parameter that is used.
