V1 and laser encounter

My first experience with V1 and OP city police using laser:

At night, this V1 alerted me the instant the laser was activated. I was the second car back and when I changed lanes, I became the lead car. I was speeding initially, then I slowed down. No ticket.

Unlike other detectors (Passport), the V1 does not have different alert levels for laser. Just one loud, long alert. Never heard it until today and I immediately knew what it was. I was somewhat less than 1/4 mile away from the laser and the alert tone sounded for at least 10 second (just about until I passed). To tell you the truth, I nailed this laser trap just like a radar trap. I could even see the green LED shining from the [blacked out] unmarked unit's laser unit as the officer pointed towards us thru the open window.

I have beaten a lot of laser (especially here in Kansas/Missouri) from what I've seen. Seems whenever I can pick up laser, I get a fair amount of notice. It's only when I can't pick up anything at all, that's when I get concerned. So far so good.

Yeah, that V1 laser alert is unmistakable.

I once got it on a 4 lane divided highway when a cop was gunning cars going in the opposite direction.

I'm guessing the laser bounced around enough that V1 picked it up. Toke me a second to realize what was going on... and then start highbeaming the oncoming traffic

I agree, that LASER tone is enough to send chills down your spine when it goes off unexpectedly.
Especially if you have the volume cranked.

The first LASER alert I got was when I was driving through Delaware on a trip down to Ocean City, MD last year.
My wife was glad she had her seatbelt tightened when THAT happened.
I hit the hooks and slowed down real fast.

Luckily I haven’t heard it lately because they don’t use LASER in PA yet.

I'm glad to hear you like the V1.

Wow!

I'm really glad to hear that the laser detector is good for something besides telling you, "You're Busted!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Still, it would seem like if there were no sacrificial car in front of you that you would be toast, at night anyway.

If lasers become less uncommon around here, I want a jammer.

The K40 laser jammer is the only way to fly.... along with a V1 or escort for radar.

I almost had the opportunity to test out the laser detection capability of my V1.
I was coming home, driving on a road where I know lasers are being used by cops on a daily basis. So I always slow down and move to the right lane.
To my prediction, over the hill, a cop standing out side his cruiser with his laser gun pointing right at the oncoming traffic. Now my V1 did NOT make any sound. I was drving on the very right land, so is it possible my V1 was not triggered because the cop was pointing at the leftmost lane?
Anyways, seeing this opportunity, I took the next exit, came back around, and drive on the very left lane, HOPING to get zapped... but sadly he has already caught someone else
So my quest for my first laser catch continues...
