v1 is here and hardwired!

Hey all, I just recieved my v1 yesterday and installed it that night. It is hardwired and is perched right above the rear view mirror with the concealed display being on the center console. Any of you veteran v1'ers have any tips for me about using it?

You asked for tips: USE YOUR EYES! I mean that in the sense that lots of people think they don't have to watch on ramps, cops hiding in medians, wooded areas, etc. when that isn't the case. I've stood my car practically on its nose to avoid a big ticket (Canada 1995 120 in a 65, cops saw me AFTER I braked hard). I put the V1 on full logic and let 'er rip. Turn the volume up if you like to listen to your tunes loud like me, the different tones obviously signify varying levels of danger.
Side story: two days ago I'm driving on I90 in NYS @ 71 mph behind a trooper for approx 15 miles. He pulls into a median and I continue on. 8 friggin' miles later I see him roaring up from the distance lights ablaze, I slow down to 70 w/o using brakes. He pulls behind me and pulls me over. I say for what, he sez "You know what an insult it is when a driver follows you going over the speed limit? I almost said, so write for me for insulting a police officer then!! I didn't of course and b/c I know and represent at least 20 troopers, including the big kahuna trooper hisownself, the guy lets me go. What a f*$kin' jerk! Never had anything like that happen before.

Just keep it turned on Seriously, keep the volume up if you're playing tunes, and KA band is always police, at least here in Cali.

Hmmmm... does that mean all the way down under the hidden cig. lighter/coin drawer???

I thought about putting my remote display there, but it would take my eyes away from the road way too much. Mounting it just in front of the gauges on the dash, for me, is ideal.

I'd like to see the pics. to see what "right under my CD player" means...

As someone else said, keep your eyes open and always make sure there is a car up ahead so that you get advanced warning of "instant-on" usage.

Many people think that once they get a detector, they're bullet proof.

I'm a lead-foot and I haven't been pulled over 'cause of radar (was paced once, but he let me go) in over eleven years. I attribute that to:

1. Common Sense
2. A good radar detector
3. luck

In that order.

Yes, I believe much of the use of the radar detector is seeing the band in use and then using your eyes to find the cop. Then you can also eliminate false alarms like shopping centers.

PS - v1 saved me 4 times since I bought it
