ur crank pulleys

i have the ur crank pulleys, now is it wise to put them on myself or have someone do it for me? Dont you need a belot timer or something like that, or can you just loosen the belt and put it on then tighten it back up?

if you dont know what you're doing, have this install done at a shop. It is VERY important that you get it put on and timed correctly... otherwise, you could damage your engine reeal bad.

WTF are you talking about? There is no timing on the crank pulley.

My dealer wanted to charge me $400 to install the crank pulley! BAstards. I'm gonna find a local speed shop to do it. MrSteve said he got his done for under $200.

is is straight forward and can be done in the home garage...you will however need a large breaker bar...i used the method of pinning the breaker bar to the ground and removing the fuse for the ignition coils and turning over the car to break the bolt free...it is important to remove either the fuel pump fuse or ignition as you do not want the car to start...just turn over...there's a DIY post on this method at V6.net

Ah, cool, good info. Will order and try that if I don't find a cheap local speed shop to do it for me. Thanks!

hmm.. sorry. Im speaking about what I remember from the UR Pulley kit install on my car... Crank pulley is connected to alt/power steering through the belts... if those arent put together correctly, then the whole engine goes to poop.

Sorry for not wording correctly. Either way, it's an install I wouldnt do by myself.

no need to dig your hole any deeper...... some cars need for the crank pulley to go on in a certain postion keeping timing where it's supposed to be...ours isnt that way...there;s no issue with the engine going to poop of not installed properly...it's just kinda hard to get the bolt on the crank to come loose

Actually although Honda torques them at 181 ft lbs, it takes a lot more than 181 ft lbs of torque to remove that bolt. From the engine starting and stopping every day and the heat generated that bolt is in there pretty well. So, you need a big ass breaker bar and some way tostop the pulley from moving so it is not spinning the crank. So you can use the way mentioned above or you can buy bring it to a shop to have done or you can buy this tool http://www.powerbuilttools.com/import.html . If you don't know what you're doing it is better to have someone do this install for you. If you're mechanically capable then you could try it yourself.

What torque does it say it goes upto?

Usually electric ones aren't that powerful, but it maybe powerful enough.

I had all three of the pulleys installed for $100. You might just want to call around.
