upgraded brakes

i just finished last night doing my brake change. i installed cross drilled and slotted rotors with goodridge stainless steel brake lines, and hawk hps front and rear pads and amsoil synthetic brake fluid. what a difference. i would definately recommend anyone not looking to spend in the 1000's for better brakes than stock. the total cost was about $450. for everything and i did all the work myself. i will post pics soon.

Cross drilled rotors are usally about $100 per rotor, And i would guess hawk pads are prob at least $50 front and $40 rear? And those estimates are on the really cheap side! Where did u get that stuff so cheap , what kinda rotors?
How much where the steel lines, I can intall disks and pads but never messed with lines are they hard to install for a amature?

I'm planning on doing mine once it warms up also. I found a local company selling drilled rotors and pads, front and rear for $184. I might just buy the rotors and get better pads, but that's pretty damn cheap. There's a good DIY here. Hopefully it goes well.

I bought r1 rotors from eBay 165 shipped a lot of friends of mine said their good, never craked or warped. The lines are easy as hell it's a bolt connecting it to the caliper the bolt for the bracket on the middle n the bolt for the top of the line hooking it up to the tube that's feeds the fluid. I'm gonna paint my calipers prob this weekend n I'll take pics

Did tou bleed each brake , and refill the reserve as it got lower or did you just suck the old fluid out refill with amsoil and bleed what was in the lines?
Is the amsoil DOT3, you think the fluid makes a difference?

From my understanding, doesn't R-1 rotors come with a lifetime warranty against warping? Or is that just for the 2-piece version? I only go with Rotora's, but I have friends that have the 2-piece R-1 rotors, and they showed me a certificate of guarantee from warping.

Where did you get you SS brake lines and how much$$??

All I can find are G-Stop Goodridge brake lines and they are $125 for just the front!

I wann do some SS lines when I drain my fluid in the next month.
I need to replace the fluid do might as well slap on some ss lines when I change the fluid!
I dont need rotors and pads mine where just replaces 6-7 months AGO!

Did you get all your stuff on E-bay?
I am looking into doing the whole setup when i change my fluid.
(might as well change everything while I have rims off)
I went on autopartswharehouse and hawk front pads are $98 backs are $89
the front rotors you stated where $150, Then back are at least $100.
SS lines where $125 I think just front (might be all 4)
$150 front rotors
$100 back rotors
$98 front hawk pads
$89 rear hawk pads
$125 SS lines..
All that equals $562, If you can point me in the right direction for the SS lines and hawk pads ceaper I would REALLY apreciate (sp) it!
Thanks

i bought my stuff from zeckhausen racing (http://www.zeckhausen.com/Acura/CL_01-03.htm). Real nice guy will work with you and gave me recommendations. I went with Centric rotors (they have plain, slotted and drilled) and Axxis Deluxe pads. Centric is the company who makes stop-tech. I also went with ATE brake fluid which is supposed to be good.

From what I read and the recomendation of the guy at zeckhausen, you should not to go with more aggressive pads than you need because they will be more likely to warp and deposit pad material on rotors if you dont ride them hard enough. Regular street pads should be good enough even for hard drivers.

I did the install myself and everything went good except for the infamous rusty screw. I would definitely recomend anyone trying to change their brakes on our cars to get a impact screwdriver from sears or something (http://autorepair.about.com/library/...bl255a-lib.htm). I have had no problems with the brakes, no squeeks, they stop nicely and almost no dust. Don't expect to stop like you had a 4piston brake set, but they are good, especially for the money.

PLUS I don't really trust ebay for car parts, you never know what you are getting.

I just bought some stuff for my Spring tune-up for brakes.

Axxis Ultimate Brake Pads (F&R) - $145.00
STOPTECH Slotted Brake Rotors (F&R) - $332.00

in climates with cold winters its really not advisable to upgrade to SS brake lines or use higher temp brake fluid.

personally for all fluids (besides motor oil, Mobil1 Full Synthetic) I use Honda OEM stuff, otherwise you might eff up your car.

Yeah I changed my rotors like 2 time all-ready so I am familiar with the process! The first time i did it a had cross drilled rotors and EBC greens.
the last time i did it I was gonna sell my car so i went the cheap route with normal rotors and bendix pads, now that im not selling it soon I want to throw some better brakes on her!

Don't forget about ROTORA and STOPTECH rotors. They are great choices and ROTORA is probably on more Acurazine cars than any other brand.

Do the Rotora slotted rotors weigh less than stock, or any slotted aftermarket rotor weigh less than stock.

Also you guys should check out RotorWorks on ebay. I got a new set of blank fronts and ceramic pads from them last year and have been great since. I'm not so sure about the pads, you might be better off getting hawks or whatever, but the rotors are solid thus far and I don't think you'll beat the price. They also have slotted/drilled/any combination

The same or slightly less due to the slotting/drilling.
