Updated 02 front brake pads

For what it's worth, I ended up buying the updated Acura 02 front brake pads from the dealer. I was trying to get them to give them to me for free, but decided $50 bux wasn't going to break me.

The part number is 45022-S0K-A11

The parts manager said they're still using the same pads for the rear brakes. They've been using the same pads since the Legend days.

Has anyone else driven an 02 TLP? I had one for a loaner about a week ago, and man the brakes were really nice. Night and day difference from my car. Hope these will give me a bit better pedal feel.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the info.

Who knows. From what I've read, and been told they're more rotor friendly. These pads were produced in light of the fact 01 TL/CL's were warping rotors so fast.

What I'm really looking for is the pedal feel, braking performance of the 02 TLP I drove last week. That car had fantastic brakes. I'll post up results after I install them (either today, or tomorrow.)

They're on, they kick ASS!

Installed yesterday afternoon. Since my new rotors only have about 4000 miles on them (smooth as glass), I didn't bother turning them.

After breaking them in (7-8 35mph-0mph strong stops), and driving about an hour in the twisties, they really started to feel nice, and responsive. Not great, but loads better than the OEM 01 "rotor munching" pads.

Today was the big difference. The more I drove, and braked with these, the more responsive they got. On the way home from work tonight in freeway stop, and go, they really impressed me. Much better pedal pressure response. NO NOISE whatsoever.

This review is based on my need / obsession for better pedal responsiveness in day, to day driving mind you. I'm sure there's better brake pads out there for really hard driving, but that's not what I was looking for. And these pads are the update for the dreaded "warped rotor" issue we've all come to know and love! The pad was the problem, not the rotor.

Next step in my quest for outstanding daily driver brakes is a set of EBC greenstuff rear pads. I've heard nothing but good about these from some very reputable folks. Anyone here have experience with EBC's? I'll be getting these babies on Wednesday, and prob. install that night. I'll update this post as soon as that happens.

Enjoy - Jim
