Update: Navigation Patch 2.11b
Got this email today from Alpine. Looks like we should be seeing the patch DVD soon.
Dear Craig
Reference Number:
Thank you very much for purchasing the [Honda/Acura] Navigation System Updated Disc version 2.11B. We apologize if you’ve experienced a problem using this disc. A special CD disc is being sent to you via US Mail at no charge that we believe will correct these issues.
The CD is to correct certain operational functions of the navigation program. It does not contain any additional map coverage or Points of Interest (POI) data. Please read the instructions that come with the disc, as this will explain in detail what software issues were addressed.
We thank you for your patience as we’ve worked through this situation. Please do not respond to this e-mail as it is a read-only service. If you have any questions please contact us at: acuranavidiscs@alpine-usa.com or 888-549-3798 option 2.
Please refer to your reference number in any correspondence.

Please post the release notes online.
Some of us won't be getting that update email, depending on the fixes, perhaps someone can send me their patch disc when they are successfully upgraded.
Thanks.

...that is, I found a couple copies of the new Navi laying around the office. So I'll probably still need that patch.
To my knowledge, there is no way to burn the new Navi DVD onto one disc without a dual-layer burner. Has anyone tried "compression" or maybe removing some unnecessary files? Think I'll experiment this weekend.

Do I have to buy the flawed upgrade disc, and then follow up with the correction disc? Or will just the correction disc do the complete job?
I planned on being in early on this, but I travel a lot, and when some of you raised issues, I backed off.
I don't have a lot of issues with the original software. Living in metro Chicago, we are pretty well mapped. But even if you need to go out in the sticks, the original disc will at least lead you to the center of the town. Then, there are always gas stations to ask for directions.
But I still want the new disc, if nothing else to upgrade the POI's. Getting a little tired of seeing gas stations on the wrong side of the intersection, or existing POI's that have been razed and are now vacant lots. It's not a matter of money. I just don't want to jump in untill all the faults are corrected.
Thanks, guys!

If you haven't upgraded to v. 2.11 then don't worry. As of right now they aren't selling them* however they should start back up soon with only the new and improved v2.11b for sale.
*I may be wrong however and you might be able to buy a new one right now but don't worry it'll be the updated version.

2.11C Patch CD
This patch CD is intended to correct minor software issues for the black labeled 2.11B Navigation DVD that you purchased recently.
The CD only contains updates to the Navigation Program, and not does no contain any additional map coverage or Points of Interest (POI) data.
This CD is for personal use only, and should not be casually shared with other Honda/Acura navigation owner namely Kensteele. Please read the note below!
Note: This CD should not be inserted into navigation systems with DVD's labeled version 2.05B or less. If the 2.11C software is loaded despite this warning, and the original DVD is re-inserted, the system will display and "Incorrect DVD Disc" error.
The Only remedy is a “Forced Download” by the dealer from the original DVD.
The Patch CD has fixes for the following 2.11B software issues:
For 00-03 TL, 01-03 CL, 00-03 RL, 01-02 MDX, 00-03 Odyssey, 03 Pilot:
*When viewing your “Personal Address” list using the touch screen (page up/down) buttons, you are unable to view all of your previous or newly entered personal address entries. This gives the impression that you are missing some of your personal addresses. (Using the “Zoom In/Zoom Out” button, or the joystick does not allow you to see them at all.)
*If the system had less then 20 previous destinations when you upgraded to 2.11B, the “Previous Destination” button may have become inactive, making it impossible to view your old, or newly added previous destinations.
*Some of the destinations stored in your "Previous Destination" and "Personal Address" lists may appear on the incorrect side of the road after upgrading to 2.11B
For 01-02 MDX:
*When refueling with the engine on, the trip computer's trip distance would not start counting up right away. It would take up to 10 miles of driving before the trip distance function would start counting up.
So basically the disc we got is only a patch CD which has no info other then the fixes on it. After we load the patch CD into the drive and it updates it has to come out and the previous DVD w/ version 2.11B on it has to go back in for future use.

Coming to a city near you
I just did the patch update and it remembered all my old prev destitations that I had before the update. But it didn't show anything that I have looked up from update to patch. That was kind of weird.

I updated mine last night and it worked fine.
One really funny thing happened though.
I went through the upgrade instructions swapping the discs & such.
When it was all done, the last step is that you’re supposed to drive the car on a mapped road that’s in the database.
Well I didn’t feel like pulling the car out of the garage so I just stopped there.
This morning when the NAVI powered up, the map showed I was in DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES !!!
Plus my clock was “behind” by three hours to account for California’s Pacific Time zone.
My detached garage has a METAL skin and foil backed insulation on the roof.
It completely blocks out the overhead satellite signals to the NAV system.
Somehow it defaulted to California on the reboot.
After I drove down the road this morning it only took a few minutes for reorientation of the system and the clock fixed itself too.
I never knew the clock adjusted itself as you drive across the time lines, but I guess that makes sense.
Too bad it doesn’t set itself like I’m sure it’s capable of.
All is well now.

But I agree that they could have made another ON/OFF selection in the setup if you didn’t want it.
Now that I think about it, even the time zone thing could be a pain in the ass if you live near one of the dividing lines.
It would be switching all the time and I don’t think there’s a way to turn THAT off.

Which one? The Original was more of a female Asian sounding lady the new one sounds more American, at least to me.
BTW it'll keep the new voice that came on the original V2.11

Ken, that got me thinking... I did a google search to try to find the answer and came upon and interesting site. This site gives 'status' information about the GPS satellietes, along with other useful info. I haven' taken the time to read through it all to see if 'time' is sent via GPS (I think it is...) but I thought you guys would find this interesting as well.
