Unsuccessful in selling my CL-S

Unsuccessful in selling my CL-S
I’ve been advertising my ’02 CL-S with only 3K miles, Nav and Spoiler in the Auto trader magazine for 3 weeks now. I have NOT had a SINGLE inquiry. I have it listed for $31K, (Kelly Blue book says $29860, and my own dealer said I should offer it at $30K) Being a firm believer in negotiating a price, I figured I’d start at $31K and sell it anywhere from $28.5K-$30K. I felt pretty confident it would have sold by now. Anyway, now I’m going to try the classified section of the Newspaper. Wish me luck.
For those of you wondering (I’d be one of them), I love my car and am mainly selling it for financial reasons.

Your problem is
1) It is 2002 and now 2003 have been on the market for 8 months.
2) You may get a brand new 03 CL-S NAV spoiler for less than the advertizes price... Make it 29.5k firm and you will get it sold quickly!

Like the others said... your price is waaaay too high. People won't look at $31k and say.. maybe he'll negotiate. They look at at it and think you're nuts and move to the next car. A brand new 2003 can be had for less.... you should list yours at around $27k or so and you should have a lot of bites....

bought my 03 CLS wihtout Navi for much much less than 31k, 30k, 29k. First question I'd always ask is why the hell is someone unloading such a new car??? At any rate, used cars suck right now. I can't hardly give away a 2000 Civic Si. It just isn't moving, after almost 2 months of trying. No calls from the paper ads. Only a few calls from when I have it sitting next to the road with a sign on it. Damn tough market right now with all the 0% financing etc.

I've been trying to sell my Explorer since June. No one will give me close to book. Can't see selling it so far below book value. Comparsion for the Acura though. A dealer by me still has a 2002 with navi, spolier, wheel locks, mud flaps, & trunk mat, for $28K. It's a demo with 120 miles.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. It looks like I need to be more aggressive with the price when I advertise it in the paper.

you will be LUCKY to get $27K for it.
It's not a high demand car, and since the addition of a 6 speed, and still the same low price, people are more inclined to purchase from a dealership when interested in this vehicle.

trade in on the 02 CLS is just under 25 grand. That's what the car is generally worth. Based on my experiences from auto auctions (dealer) they sell pretty close to KBB trade in value. At that price the car would sell. I'd be hoping for 26-27k. Remember when it's a matter of only a few dollars from what you are asking to what a new one is selling for it'll be very difficult to sell, simply because you won't reach as many people, and financing, your own color pick, a 'NEW' car are just alluring.
For the 01 with 44k, unless you find someone who wants the car tricked out i think you'll actually have a slightly harder time selling the car than stock. I don't really think your mods in this type of car will really add any value whatsoever. I'd say happy with 20, joyed with 22, dumping for 18.
