Um... Need some help on brake squeak.

OK... The Infiniti boards suck. No one wants to help. I see more friggin' posts on tints and 3m stone guards than anything else. It's pathetic.

Anyhoo... I have a problem. Need some thoughts.

I recently took my winter wheels and tires off. Put the 18s back on. Swap off, swap on... No biggie.

So I started driving and when I only apply the brakes, I occasionally (50/50) get the right (front or back, can't figure out yet) brakes to squeak. It's a high-pitched noise. Not a grind, not a groan.

Why in the hell would this be the case? I didn't touch the rotors, nor did I touch the pads.

Any thoughts on this? I torqued the lug nuts to 80 ft lbs (per spec)... And I can't see why I'd have to re-bed the brakes. It's driving me nuts and I don't want to be causing harm to the rotors.

Anyone have ANY thoughts on this??? I'd appreciate any feedback.

BTW... Brake response feels fine. Stopping power is there.

Carl, so why are they squeaking? I understand the performance brakes sometimes make noises, but this just started happening after the swap.

It's annoying to say the least.

Number of things... You prolly washed the car after the install?.. correct?... surface rust on the rotors will cause squeaking... dirt..

Do the brakes squeak after they are hot?... did you try some 0-60 stops and notice more or less squeaking?

Kinda hard to diagnose the problem when it is not in front of me.
But I bet you won't have a problem..

Sometimes the face on the back of the rims that touching the hub places different preasure on the brake rotor... if it does then it will cause the rotor to touch the pad alittle more in a certain area.. minor... maybe 100 miles and the pad will wear evenly and you will not hear it anymore.. sit tight... rack some miles on and report back.

Apply some high temp brake grease on the BACK of the pads. This should get rid of the noise

All Brembo's squeak. So do mine. It's occasional. I don't really worry about it. I think it's just their nature.
