Uh, Should I be washing my car?
Hi Everyone, it's time for another stupid Chod question!!!
Due to the magic of Zaino, I've never really washed my car.
Oh, I wipe it down every day or two so that it stays looking beautiful, but never washed it per se.
I've been thinking this is actually a BAD thing, i.e. I should be rinsing out the engine bay or undercarriage or whatever. Should I be using simplygreen or something on
my car once a month or something? Is this not a big deal or
so if it isn't winter and there isnt' all that salt?
Just curious as to people's habits. Chod out.
Side fact: In the 6 years I owned my ford taurus, I never washed it ONCE. I just prayed for rain! =) And it still looks surprisingly nice!

you should wash it about 1-2 weeks with a sheepskin mitt with a rinse out of a hose with a nozzle, this gets the dirt and grit out...if you dont do this...everytime you wipe your car when it is even slightly dirty, will get between your towel and the paint, and act as a abrasive, so you will see fine scratch lines eventually...

i try to wash at least once a week, sometimes twice, i have 5 coats of zaino, but i have to redo it again since it came out of the body shop (ok 1/2 the car has zaino on it now) i can't zaino until christmas eve (thats 30 days) maybe santa will leave me some more zaino products - i never did like the quick shine spray and wipe when the car has roadfilm on it, nothing beats a good washing, (sort of a lazy saturday morning when all you do is brush your teeth and put some more deoderant on, - its just not the same as a shower)

Okay, nobody has answered my question yet:
Never mind the paint, I got that taken care of,
My question is specifically the engine and undercarriage.
Like those of you who use a bucket to wash your car, do you
actually rinse out the inside of the car? Or do you just grab
a hose and blast away at the engine/underbody for a while?
I have a condo, and no convienient hose to use. bah.

The salt and crud can really be a pain *and* will mess-up your car!
Do not blast a hose at the engine. You might just be able to wipe the parts down *and apply protestants to rubber and plastic parts.

If it isn’t too dirty, you could just use some shop towel and Pep Boys makes carries blue shop towels that look like thick paper towels. They are great for doorjambs, engine parts, and cleanup in other messy areas where you don’t want to launder a good cloth towel
BTW -- depending on environment *and* area, there is the constant mini-cleanup method *and* the "let it eat dirt"/"wash when it's too dirty" car wash method. Both work...
