Which two of you are defecting to Volvo?

Two CL-S owners posted on the SwedeSpeed board that they're getting Volvo R's. Are either of the two of you on this board? I have a TL-S and an MDX and am trading the MDX for a V70R. I'd be curious as to what made you go from the CL-S to the R.

Yeah Beltfed's over there. I'm a member there but I don't own a Volvo. A good friend of mine does though and I've done a couple photoshoots for him and posted the pics there.

I dunno who else is. I think eclipse23 was thinking about it for a while.

Not me, I've actually declined my interest in the car after seeing that they are going to sell for MSRP or higher and probably over that.

I am seriously considering a S60R Manual... We will have to see how the "test drive" in Miami goes in a couple of weeks

I'm still in, signed up at MSRP......heck, I was going to get an M3 (which is more money). So, paying MSRP doesn't bother me on this one.

I'm going to take the S4 for a drive when it comes out, but I'm not impressed by its looks (even the one at the Autoshow with the side strips painted). The weight is a bit concerning as well(3,780 or so).

I like the fact that the S60R will most likely have an ECU upgrade by mid-end of Summer hopefully.

After driving it, I was extremely impressed.

Amazingly....yes, I know the M3 is a higher performance car (not the issue).

1. The Volvo will be more exclusive, I see M3s "everywhere,"

2. I like the Volvo's looks very much, its mean and conservative at the same time.

3. The Volvo is a Turbo, an extra 40-50hp is in the works.

4. I don't think the M3s interior is as nice as the Volvo S60R, especially with the $1500 Atacama leather option. Volvo has historically always put lots of detail in their R model interiors.

5. The M3 is expensive, add a few things here and there.....you can quickly get up to the $52k-$54k area.

6. This is a daily driver, the M3 is too showy and people are too envious of others with them.....I would be uncomfortable leaving it in parking lots.

7. Volvo has AWD

8. By the Volvo being a little less money (not much), it will allow me to be a bit more flexible when I want to get a 2nd car....Viper is going in Oct.

I didn't post on that board, but I'm --> <-- that close to jumping on the V-70 'R'. Yeah its a wagon, but my Rotti doesn't fit in the CL very well anymore. :-) And the V-70 'R' has ALL the luxo of the CL with amazing power and performance. The only decision to make is - '04 model year or wait one more.

The V70R is a hot machine, that car handled amazing around the AutoX.

Also note, only "400" V70Rs are being imported for 2004...not many at all.

I agree with most of your comments, and that is also why I am seriously considering the S60R. However, regarding your statement above, I still agree with you, but I am a little reprehensive about the Atacama option, and am basically on the fence between it and the Nordkap interior. Have you seen it yet? I do love it in the pictures that I have seen, and I do think it looks great with the black exterior, once again only through pictures though... I have also heard that it will be VERY hard to maintain, any thoughts??? I have heard a "rumour" that they actually have changed it from the "original" Atacama and made it more "user friendly"??!!

I have seen it (sat in it) and its awesome, very thick soft leather.....you heard right, Volvo is actually treating the leather now due to concerns. Its not going to be as resistant as the Nordcap or Gobi, but much more durable than originally planned.

Would only think twice about Atacama if you have young kids that are going to spill shit on a regular basis.

I think Atacama looks best with Black and Ti Gray.
