Depends...

for a factory FI car, I'll take turbo and upgrade it. For a factory N/A car like mine, the supercharger is usually cheaper and easier to tune/install. That's why I chose the supercharger route.

Hey Pull_T,

I just saw this in your signiature:

Waiting for Install: Vortech S-Trim Supercharger (9psi, aftercooled) w/extras (FMS 42# injectors, Lightning 80mm MAF, Walbro GS342 255lph Fuel Pump, Pillar-mount Autometer Phantom Electric Fuel Pressure and Boost Gauges, Bezel-mount Autometer Phantom Oil Temp and Coolant Temp Gauges), FMS "C" springs

When are you installing your supercharger?

Vortech has a backorder (well a "manufacturing" backorder) on the aftercooler, and should ship next week. I have all the other parts already. Install, tune and testing should be done by the first week of June.

Note that I am not complaining about Vortech. Obviously, they don't have dozens of my specific aftercoolers just piled in a warehouse. The rep I talked to said that my specific kit (96-98 Cobra with aftercooler) was only the 105th that they have made, so It is understandable that I may have to wait for this low volume item.

Don't get a blowoff for an auto unless you have the extra money to spare, they don't sound as good as the one in manual cars. i've heard the difference from stick and auto 1.8T and stick sounds way better, auto sounds like it doesn't have enough air coming out,..

Am I the only one that doesn't understand the appeal of the blowoff valve sound?

If I were to choose a power adder based solely on sound, I'd go with a centrifugal supercharger. That blower whine, no...SCREAM sounds way better to my ear than a BOV.

A supercharger will put out more underhood heat than a turbo in most cases (pound for pound of boost). Also, a blower and turbo both compress (and heat) the intake charge, so one doesn't "need" an intercooler any more than the other.

Turbo and SC both compress air--when you compress air, it releases heat (exothermic); heat make air less dense, so you want to cool it. Intercooler is equally applicable to turbo or sc I would think.
