Turbo Setup

I was wondering if you just use the piping from this kit and upgraded the turbo if this would be a decent setup? I compaired the pics from this to thinjims setup and the bends in the piping look very close. All though his kit is far more superior.

What does everyone think?

6's has made more room in the engine bay than auto, so i think it will. the guy claimed he made 320.9whp @ 9psi that's on J30 motor. eventually the tranny crap out on him and he's upgrading his tranny to 6's...

hell, even with engine management you would still be less than a grand for a turbo? usually, you get what you pay for, so this is weird to me..well, if it is decent and makes that kinda power, everybody on here should buy this kit huh?..gl

If the turbo manifold and the i/c piping fits the way it does for the accord in those pics, it might be alright. I'm not talking about the way he ran the i/c piping under his i/c either, because that is just dumb.
The welds on the manifold are probably shit, so it'd probably be smart to get those re-welded or something so they don't crack. I wouldn't touch the turbo or the wastegate in that kit. If the manifold, i/c piping, and downpipe are all proven to fit then it might be a good place to start a budget kit.

i'd love to have this setup on my CL-S but what kind of engine management would you use? I wonder if this setup would work straight out of the box bolt everything on. Not to mention long term reliability.

I'm sure this was the same kit that SSAutoChrome tried to sell but they had some copyright infringement issues so they got kicked off of Ebay.

gl with this man. I would suggest maybe getting new gaskets and nuts/bolts. Definitely looks like SS Autochrome stuff, which would mean recycled cardboard gaskets...

I would ask them if they would relist it minus the wastegate, BOV, Turbo, and FPR. and get those elsewhere. probably save $100 off of that kit instead of just not using the stuff.

ALSO: you should know that this piping setup has the downpipe only 3-4" from the ground on a NON-LOWERED car, so if you are lowered, either forget it or expect to do some redesign.

I was just going to use the piping. And upgrade everything else. But after all the feedback this seems a little sketch.

Would def get new welds, bolts nuts, gaskets, wastegate, turbo, bov etc. Just use the piping.

There was a cl that had it. I wanna try and get a hold of him to see whats up.

^^^ Oh and fixing the height problem would be easy. Just a little work like you said.

Bwahah! No only does it look like CRAP but looping the piping has to cause more lag issues, etc.

^^^^^^^That isnt the same setup.... I just noticed .... Look at the intercooler on the actuall pic of the auction. The pipings leaves the same side. Not from differant sides so that wouldnt be a problem anymore... Tottally diferant intercooler-maybe even set-up...

NO. he got a different set-up. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=turbo he run his turbo via front bumper.

imo, If the pipes were to fit the CL... a bigger Turbo, DIY gaskets, and some minor mods (fuel management, fuel pump, fuel pressure reg, Gauges, etc...) are the only thing you need to run 450whp+. That should be around 2k+ for everything. I think we just have to wait for a guy here ballsy enough to have this on their ride.

so, i went to the TL board and here's what i found...

apparently, Speedr73 from the TL board got this piping idea and stolen by SSautochrome as far as i understood it...

I originally bought a turbo from ss autochrome. The thing went out on me within the first week and I called them to complain, and get a new one because they have a 1 year warranty. I actually got intouch with him on the phone and he sent me a new one by the end of the following week.

While on the phone with ss, he asked me what I was putting the turbo on. I told him and he immediately asked if I would send him my piping so he could copy it. He said he would then let me sell the kit (me being a rep for ss autochrome/xs power). I complied, but explained that my pipes were shitty and that my welding skills suck.

He said he would pay to have the pipes professionally done once I found out how much they would cost. I went to many different shops, and after one hell of a battle with all the shops, Grand Muffler in Marietta made them...they did an awsome job, although they went off of my design which was flawed by the downpipe. I should have let them do it their way.

I then took those pipes off my car. Sent them to ss auto, and waited.

And Waited

And then I found out that he sent them off to England so that Citroen could produce them...WTF? Grand Muffler could have had me a design saved on disk and as many kits as I wanted within a month or two.

I had to wait nearly a year to get those pipes back from him. Also, in the time I waited I found IMO a very good intercooler to include in the kit. The spearco Top to Bottom IC. SS gave me the money to buy it, and then I had to send the IC back to them. He had that copied and back to me within about two months.

Once I finally got all the parts back, I did a test fit. They fit as they should have and I tried to call him to give him the ok to produce the kit, and to get money for IC piping. Never heard back so I just paid for the IC piping myself.

Then he emailed me asking what the deal was. I said lets discuss this over the phone like normal businessmen and set it up right. I wanted everything in writing like a contract. I also wanted multiple kits sitting in my garage so that when someone bought a kit I could have it right out to them instead of waiting till god knows when and never being able to get in touch with ss if there was a problem. I emailed him three more times to find out what was going on and if we had the greenlight on the kit.

I never heard back unitl maybe a month later when he again asked me if I was gonna sell the kit. I told him that he never responded to my emails and never answered the phone, and if that is the way he practices business then I will not conduct business with him. He basically said he never got any emails and fine have it your way.

Now I see that he went ahead with the kit, put it on ebay, without any info from me whatsoever. No body knows how to install this kit. There are little things you have to do and cut that neither ss nor the customer knows. I never got a chance to tell him that the downpipe needs to be redone.

And to top it all off, he steals my pictures right off this thread and arbitrarily makes them his own.

So do I have a problem with SS? You can put me in the pile right above everyone else.
